981 Cayman S - Adding Sports Chrono Package
Hi, on a 981 Cayman S that does not have the Sports Chrono package, does anyone know if it is possible to purchase this option online and have it installed in the vehicle after the fact? Has anyone done this before? What would be the cost for doing this? I was not able to find it in sun coast parts.
Other than the physical clock/timer and sport/sport+ buttons at the center, would there be any other physical parts that would need to be installed? Or would this mainly be a software upgrade + ECU update?
As far as I know, the sports chrono package benefits in:

As far as I know, the sports chrono package benefits in:
- Throttle Response in Sport / Sport+ Modes
- Added Sport+ Mode button
- Physical Clock/Timer
- Lap interface with timing data in PCM
- Launch Control
- G-force data near the tachometer?

Doesn't Sport Chrono also include dynamic engine (or transmission) mounts? I'm not expert enough to really know what that does, or what the parts would be, but it sounds like something that would be a significant bit of work to install.

I'm guessing this would be very expensive just changing out the dash piece for the clock, let alone all the other stuff involved. SC package isn't the type of thing you add later.
it is better to just figure out what options you want and hunt down a car that has all of them.
took me awhile, but eventually found my unicorn......

This person apparently was able to add it by purchasing the physical parts and programming with PIWIS. Not much details on the process, however.

Thanks everyone. I found this on sun coast parts: https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/9X7SM.html which looks similar to the Sports Chrono Package but I am not sure if it is the same. However, it seems to only support 2005 - 2012 models of the Cayman.

Then you need a PCM sport chrono activation code. Use a piwis 2 in E mode and add the code in the pcm menu. Now go to the menu for switch and recoding locations and enable the sport plus and confirm. In instrument cluster menu recode to on everything with g force.
Now you should have sport plus, throttle blip, launch control on pdk and g force. Actual sport chrono on pcm/ instrument is not available but who cares!

When I added Sports Chrono to the 987.2 I gained the sport button and the sport + button, I also gained launch control,
I had my dealer add it I think it was about $1,500 -$1,600 with PCA discount, parts and labor.

That was me. Its quite simple. In short just buy on ebay the a switch panel and modify your own by rearranging/ adding the sport plus cover plate.

I found out the same when getting my 981 and the kits offered are only for 987 and 997. Reading some forums and playing with my PIWIS 2 in simulation mode I came to this. Matter of fact I added the sport plus 1 hour after delivery To do you guys a favor see piwis 2 screenshots of settings to be changed. For the pcm sport chrono search google as I did ...

I did a DIY install of the Suncoast PSE kit which included the new switch panel and I preemptively installed the sport plus button in the correct location while I was installing the new PSE button. I also have a 2014 CS and would like to get your version of sport plus. The consumer version of the PIWIS 2 looks confusing to me as what I would need to get and where to buy a complete ready to use system. Is there a stand alone system or do I need a windows XP laptop? Where is the best place to buy it, what version and what does it cost? Also where did you get the activation code from? Thanks in advance as I am lacking in my computer skills and appreciate your advice and help.

As someone who is in the market to buy one of these cars, it would be disturbing to learn that this is possible. Seems open to nefarious purposes (not implying anything about your question) on the part of unscrupulous sellers. I guess the VIN cannot be manipulated.
