My first Porsche
Hey guys, just like many of you, the time has come for me to purchase my first Porsche. I did my research and nailed a 991 at the local Porsche dealer but, to my surprise the car was pretty beat up for only having 36k miles.
The sale rep show me a few other options and as I was about to walk out, I saw a 2014 CPO Cayman 2.7 with 20k miles in mint condition. The car is a 6MT, black interior, 19” Boxter wheels and not to many options.
I negotiated the car for $40k out the door and a two year extended warranty from Porsche.
I’m not doubting my decision but, is always good to hear what other people with knowledge of the car think about the purchase. Also, I welcome any comment in regards to the good, the bad and the ugly of the car.
Thanks in advance.

Well, IMO, you bought yourself a very, very good Porsche. Some would even say a 981 Cayman trumps the 991 in terms of driving performance and fun. I owned your exact car, the base 2.7, in Agate Grey over Agate Gray / Orange and it was a fantastic car. Wished in someways I hadn't sold it!
Does it have the Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE)? If not, it's a good option to add.
Congrats!

No PSE, but for a DD is it necessary?
Thanks.

Three Wheelin'
You don't have to get an OEM Porsche Sports Exhaust; there are plenty of worthy aftermarket options to consider as well.
As for the car itself, I certainly don't think it was anything close to be in consideration as a lamentable decision. I kind of feel like $40k is the going rate for a clean, well taken care of example of a 981 with a factory warranty to boot. Of course the S is going to have more power, bigger brakes, etc., but that doesn't diminish the fact that the 981 as a platform is an exceptional driver's car. Enjoy and don't look back.
Welcome to the Porsche family!

Several months ago I bought a 2014 6MT Cayman with 10k miles for several thousand less from a private party. However I have no warranty so I think you got a good deal considering it was at a Porsche dealership and is CPO’d. My car needed some maintenance done and I probably should replace the tires soon since they are the originals and now over 6 yeas old. Regardless I wouldn’t worry about the price and instead just enjoy your new ride. The 2.7 is a great motor, especially with the 6MT.

Great looking car, and I think really nice price.
I love horsepower as much as the next guy, but honestly, for a daily driver that will put a smile on your face, that's practical as well, this is perfect. I had the 2015 GTS version, and outside of a racetrack, I really didn't use all the extra HP. We took that car on a 2000 mile round trip to the East Coast and even drove up Mt. Washington in it.
One thing that people don't say enough about modern day Porsches is just how well built they are. While parts are expensive, unless you're unlucky or extra hard on it, you should get years out of it without doing anything other than basic maintenance.
Congrats.

Clears turn signal.
Nice window tint.
When people tint windows, they also do a protective film.
Check it again. I bet it has a front clear wrap.
Looks like the prior owner was a enthusiast.
