6 pot calipers
Guys,
As I have sold my 996 GT3 and have a Turbo lined up to replace it, I'm wondering if anyone here know what parts are required (and part numbers) to install the 6 pot GT2 & 3 calipers on a -01 Turbo. I assume it is the calipers (bolt on?) and rotors but not 100% sure. Input appreciated.
Ciao,
JE

I bought Kevin's kit and it was a direct bolt on to my 2002.. Really improves braking for the turbo. Sorry, I don't know the parts numbers, but his kit is the 996 GT3 caliper set mated with the 997TT 350mm rotors at all corners.

all you need are the 6 pot calipers (i have a pr for sale btw) and the rotors 996tt rotors should work. While I don't have the details in front of me, as I recall the 996tt rotors are 350 x 34. They are a one piece rotor and very heavy. You might consider the two piece rotor kits from AP, PFC and Giro.
If you're interested in the calipers, give me a PM

Couldn't be further from the truth (stealing your line from the GT3 swaybar thread on 6speeds! )!
The OEM stock 996Turbo rotor is 330MM and the 996GT3 caliper requires a 350MM rotor.
You can use the 997 Turbo front rotor along with the 996 GT3 caliper and caliper bolts without swapping out anything esle.
Or buy Kevin's kit, which is an awesome "provides it all" kit...

I have 996 GT2/GT3 front brake kit in the 996TT. I use GT2/GT3 disks as well.
Only the pins in the calipers needed to be modded a bit because the wheel hubs are different in the Turbo because of the 4WD. Of course the Porsche disks didn't last at all with Pagid Yellows. Now driving with Performance Friction disks (the GT2/GT3 part because I just modded the pins in the calipers) and their 01 pads and they are great! (With the GT3 Cup brake ducts and Castrol fluid as well...)
The car is no track car compared to 996 GT3 but hangs up with one after some small mods (talking about similar level driver)...and on Nordschleife is very fast...and I must say on street the Turbo seem to be more fun... Altough..have to admit on track the GT3 really shines...
After the brakes get yourself a LSD from Manthey. It's a needed modification as well.
BR from Finland...

Before the release of the 997Turbo you absolutely would have had to swap uprights/nuckles and jump thru hoops to get the larger 350MM rotor to work. Or you'd have to do what Heavychevy did and have a "rotor spacer" machined for the proper hat offset...
Now days, you don't have to do that anymore... Especially on the front. It is a direct bolt on with the proper length GT3 front caliper bolts, the 997TT front steel rotors and pads... On the rear, you do need to fabricate a spacer, and machine the outter metal stop on the rear caliper slightly (1.5-2.0mm) to get it not to rub the rotor. For that reason, the UMW setup is the most logical solution. Especially for those who aren't used to fabricating their own parts... Brembo, PF, and Girodis, along with Coleman Racing all make rotors specifically for the 996TT offset now, so options require much less headache than even 2.5 years ago when I bought my 996TT.
For what it's worth, My "home built" setup has worked very well for many many track days in the more advanced driving groups. Mine uses a custom front rotor/hat with slotted rotors, and pagid pads, and Pagid yellows with 997TT rotors and custom caliper spacers in the rear. I bought the calipers and pads from ebay and the rotors from a member here... I'll eventually upgrade to 380+MM rotor/caliper combo when my 996TT returns to the track in a year or two...

I'm going to revive this old thread as i'm looking to update to the 996 gt 2/3 6 pistons.
Has it been confirmed that the caliper with the 997 350mm rotors is a direct bolt on for the 996tt fronts?
Do you need to switch out the rear calipers to the gt2/3 to have everything work correctly with the brake bias etc?

I'm told that 996 or 997 GT3/2/TT calipers up front with 997tt rotors, and 997tt caliper bolts will bolt right up.
In the rear, the 997 GT3/2/TT piston sizes are different, so it's recommended that you either stay stock, or go with 996 GT3 calipers, 997tt rotors, and 997tt caliper bolts- reason being that the 997 cars have a different front-rear brake bias.

Start reading this thread, I've got all the part numbers on another computer and can post them here in 2 days. Basically you need to buy 996 GT3 MKII calipers and 997 MkI turbo front rotors and 996 PCCB front metal brake lines. I did my upgrade a few months ago and it all bolted on nicely. The pedal feel is no different though, they just last a bit longer on the track.

Also- any line change in the rear necessary to swap in 996 GT3 calipers?
Simple enough to change the lines...
