Cited posting notes that changing lines are "optional." Not sure gathering all the parts is most economical when Suncoast sells the whole GT3 front kit for $2850.

I did this swap on my first 996TT with Kevin's kit.
No need to swap brake lines
last cup car I saw, new from factory, had rubber hoses IIRC
I did mine by getting the kit from Kevin. Good pricing, and did not have to worry about missing parts, wrong parts, etc

Well, I already have the 996 GT3 calipers front and rear, which is why I ask.

I am beginning to wonder if this mod is worth it, as I have never been to the track. Just slowing down from higher speeds on the highway

I have 996 GT3 front calipers with 997 turbo rotors on my 996tt. No need for new lines, everything bolts up fine.

I did it with my first 996TT, and unless I do something crazy with the turbos themselves will not be doing it again
the stock brakes have plenty of grabbing power for a stock or flashed turbo that is not seriously on the track

the only other reason to do it is cosmetic
I just picked up an 01 that had 19" 997TT wheels on it (already off and sold)
IMO, those wheels made the stock brakes look tiny

The 4 piston steel lines will bend in to place but they are a bit short. If you have a look at the Porsche parts list you will see that the 6 piston PCCB calipers for the 996t run a different part number for the steel brake lines feeding them as they are a bit longer. The GT3 lines are different again because of the rotor offset.

It is not 100% necessary, but for $30 why bother compromising the line on something as important as your brakes?

Definitely worth it on the track but they won't stop your car any faster in a panic stop on the street.

Your tires are the limiting factor it that situation an the stock brakes have more than enough grip to kick in the ABS.

Here are the parts you need:

996 351 431 90 LH Caliper
996 351 432 90 RH Caliper
997 351 405 01 LH rotor
997 351 406 01 RH rotor
996 352 086 02 Pad dampners
996 351 948 00 Pads
997 355 587 03 LH Brake line (As per my earlier post)
997 355 588 01 RH Brake line (As per my earlier post)
996 355 139 01 Brake hose (I replaced mine as the system was open)
996 351 959 30 Caliper hardware (not required if you buy brand new calipers as they come with them)

All of the above are about $2.5K from Sonnen Porsche.

Any rear brake line changes needed to swap in a 996 GT3 caliper and 997tt rotor?
