Default 968 wiring for ambient temp LCD gauge

Anyone know what the six wires are for? Specifically, which is for what?

Cheers!

I grafted multiple pages together [+ key] for you to follow. I hope this helps:

Now let me explain.

The three diamond-shaped ends with labels: P48, N3, H32 are soldered connections going to the following-

P48 goes to a connection [239] and onto fuse 36 - this is your power supply
N3 goes through another connection [204] and onto G6 > Bridge Adapter
H32 goes to a third connection [173] and then to ground

You can see that two others go to the outside temp sensor which is mounted on the underside of 968 passenger side mirror. You can feel it if you run your hand along the bottom of the mirror housing.

The last one runs through a connection to the ignition lock.

That was quite timely and informative. My LCD reads negative 16 degrees (or something like that) for about 2 seconds when I start my 968. Then the display goes out altogether. I pulled the LCD out and there didn't seem to be anything loose or troubling behind the unit. I've read here that the temp sensor may be in the mirrors or at the base of the windshield. Has anyone else had this problem?

Since I'm a newbie, here's a shot of my car, for those that are curious.

Yes....that's a lowered ParagonP suspension w/adjustable Koni's and Boxster wheels. It really did fit (with front spacers).

Hi Rich...beautiful car and welcome to Rennlist!

I haven't experienced your problem with the LCD temperature display. It reminds me of when I accidentally turn on my computer moniter without the computer turned on. It says 'NO SIGNAL' on the moniter until I boot up the PC.

Perhaps it's similar with the LCD and it's not getting a reading from the temperature unit? Some fault with the wiring or the unit itself perhaps. I wish I could give a definitive answer but I've never had this problem. Only thing that's happened to mine is I was using the air compressor/cig lighter without the engine running and blew the fuse. The cig lighter no longer worked and the temp LCD always displayed celcius, no farenheit.

Hmm...check your fuse!

Thanks. I didn't actually check the fuse yet, since it displayed the 2 seconds of incorrect temp I thought it was fine, but maybe the temp sender is not getting or sending signal. I'll check tonight.

Thanks for the kind words on it's condition...it is currently under a cover in a heated garage, with a myriad of compounds to be tried on it this winter. I may have to do some searching on Rennlist, but I've tried and tested Blackfire, Zaino Bros, Meguiers, etc.

If you locate/fix the problem would you please share what you found with the rest of us? It's good having solutions to problems when searching through the archives later on.

Thanks!

I have to hook the battery up (and it's 10 degrees F here right now)....but I will post a follow up if I can get it fixed.
