Hi 4kix66,

There's no deadline for the project. The CR-1 was manufactured by Becker. The CD-2 was manufactured by Alpine. I don't believe either were installed in Boxsters, but I've been wrong before.

Thanks!

I don't have the CD version but the cassette version, I guess CR1?
Send me a PM to discuss further.

I'm willing to entertain anything that's era correct, but I'd prefer a CD-2. A CR-1 would be suitable as well as it was the OE radio in my car:

331 Cassette-radio Porsche/Becker CR-1

If you've got something to sell, shoot me a message! Thanks!
If the CR-1 was original equipment on your car (option code 331) and you are fine with that you should go that direction. They are out there and reasonably priced.

Of the 4,242 North American 968s, 3,760 had the CR-1.

968 Audio options were pretty limited:

331 am/fm cassette CR-1- standard
691 am/fm CD CD-2 - optional 92-94.5
694 am/fm CD CD-2 - optional 94.5 - 95
692 CD changer CD-C1 - optional all years
6 speakers standard cab/8 speakers standard coupe
490 Hi-Fi sound 8 speakers cab/10 speakers coupe - optional
494 amps - optional

Some of the first few 968s had 944 series radios. 11 of them had the option code 158 Blau Stuttgart unit.

Period 911s and 928s shared these units as well.

I'm not really sure Bill. the CR-1 is much more common. The CD-2 is pretty rare and I have seen them on eBay for $200, just for the manual.

Hi All,

I'm still looking for a CR-1 or CD-2. Despite all the chatter, nobody has actually offered me one for sale yet. Please send me a PM if you have one to sell.

Thanks!

I hope to go to storage soon to check on this. I may have both or even more than 1. Trouble is, not an easy visit then finding the right box but I have this on my do list.

I'm not sure what unit my "94 had but I should have it somewhere. The CD changer quit working so I upgraded. I never throw anything that might be valuable away but so far I don't seem to be able to find it. I'll keep looking.
