Default Transmission Questions

I am looking to buy a 968 tranny. I am wondering if all of them came with a factory trans cooler like the 951S did? If not, was it an option that existed?

No and no. Only option for the "consumer" version of the car was LSD. I think the handful of turbos had LSD with a different locker ratio but I know of no cooler on those either. Someone else can post if this is incorrect.

The type 01E transmission used in the 968 came with an open differential or one of two types of limited slip diffs: the clutch type (Salisbury) design which same part used in the G50 transmissions (87-forward 911), or a Torsen / Gleason worm-gear type limited slip. An external oil cooler pump and loop was not made available.

From what I've read and heard, the clutch-type was only shipped in the very early 92 models and was replaced sometime during the 92 production year by the Torsen...anyone have any other info that conflicts or confirms this?
