I was wondering why one man would bet on his last ********. So I researched the LS7 for 1 minute and found this...
Yea.... that's the engine I would have chosen...
Lart you may have a pair soon! hang in there buddy!

This has to be fake. Ls is the best thing that ever happened to car world and especially 944. The only thing that one can do do make 944 drivable at all is V8.

i don't have LS7 valve guides.
I'm running ported LS3 heads.
so the night before last - I drove from LA to the Phoenix area....
overall, the 380 miles was dull and uneventful.
it was a hot night though with the desert temps ranging from 84 to as high as 92F in the late/wee hours.
the car seems to have been running a bit warmer than ideal. in any case,
during the majority of the trip, i ran a wide range of RPM's.... between 2300 and 2600 (78-86mph).
with the occasional 3000~3200 rpm yawn (98-105mph)
yeah, sometimes you gotta say what the heck....
live on the edge.
this morning i woke up to 70F in the suburbs of Phoenix.
car ran in the middle of the temp gauge on the morning commute.
having driven the car about 800 miles during the past week, and mostly during southern California's recent extreme heat wave,
it's fairly clear i'll need to run a fan behind the oil cooler.
space is tight.
we'll see what we can do.

Check the fan shroud for air leaks to the radiator. Also the ac condenser should have a shroud behind it direction the air to go thru the radiator. And the temp neddle may be off. I used open cell door jam foam strips for sealing the shrouds, works great. Good to see your not using the LS7 heads with the valve guide issues.

thanks.
Doug pointed out that I have a significant gap of several inches between the rear of the lower front valence and the front of the radiator.
so air probably isn't taking direct path to cool it. i'll see about closing the gap.
not sure if serious. I think you like roasting me much more bettah.
it really is!!
even with the lack of fuel pressure at the top end, throttle response in all the driving i do, seems close to perfect.
I'm thinking the following random thoughts before I upgrade to the 044 unit....
1. car runs real, real seriously good since the visit to the tuner.
2. any lack of power is either only remotely noticeable or not at all with spirited driving.
3. power delivery is just about perfect when you give it a lot of throttle through the low gears.
4. I drive a lot in 5th at 50-65mph, say like, driving on Coast Highway or in heavy traffic on the interstate, etc....
then, when you pop it into 4th, the car launches violently.
5. so, in 6th from 65-80 mph - when you drop into 5th, the car launches really, really good.
redline in 5th is like, 165~170. obviously, the dyno suggests it is going to dog out a bit after 4500 rpm....
still, with everything already so far past awesome, i'm not sure I care.
with the stingy, oem pump is there any upside??
besides less likelihood of driveline issues....
how 'bout less of a chance of fire?
since the fuel supply is on the stingy side, is there any chance this condition will allow for better fuel economy?

So you are not supposed to alter the A/f ratio? where did you learned all this stuff?, 911 guys are amazing, you need to tell all these 951 fans about your findings, they like to play with their AFR all the time.
