Default Totaled Turbo 1993 968

Please save my baby! I have owned my 968 since 1996. I had it converted/rebuilt a a turbo clone by Power Haus. I recently had a mishap with a road sign where it struck the car in the driver door and into driver rear quarter panel. The body shop and insurance determined it was totaled! It will now have a salvage title. I would love to see someone repair or use the parts to build their dream 968. I have put in excess of $50,000 into it over the years. I am throwing a random price of 15,000 O.B.O. out.

please message me with questions if needed.

Serious bummer Miles and sounds like a heck of a deal for someone. I don't need anymore car projects right now but I'm sure someone will jump on it.

First impression doesn't seem to be damage worthy of totaling the car.

I had a frame on a vehicle (not a porsche) straightened last month, only cost $500. That along with a bumper and tailgate cost me under $1200 total out of the 12k the insurance company gave me after totaling it because of the frame damage. Runs straight and looks fine now.

I don't understand (and agree with Speedbump and Jeff) - why not fix it, especially since you have a pristine drivers side door? Seems to make a lot more sense than trying to sell it for a tiny fraction of what you have into it, especially since the car is in beautiful condition otherwise.

I would love to be in a position to take that off of your hands. Very sorry about the damage.

This is a fear that a lot of us drive with, and why I have an "agreed upon" value with the insurance company on my cars. When you consider the "actual cash value" (insurance term) of our cars, compare that to the cost of parts and labor to repair, add to that the difficulty in finding parts and then inject the fact that if the repair reaches 60 or 70 percent of vehicle value, they will total.

Does this car look totaled, or at the 60 / 70 percent mark? Not really, but at the insurance company's discretion they can consider a particular vehicle too much of a hassle with too many unknowns and just call it done.

A friend of mine recently had to buy the salvage of his S4 Audi back and pay for repairs out of pocket using, in part, the proceeds from the insurance company. A pain that comes along with a branded (salvage) title for life, but he had monster money in this car with no agreed upon valve, and had no choice.

Well, actually he did have a choice, but the other option would have put him walking away from 15,000 worth of mods.......
