Jeff, a VIN question

Jeff, a VIN question
I picked up a 1992 Cab, Black w tan, VIN WP0CA2965NS840381.
But here's the thing: the car is FULL leather: Knee bolster, seat backs, door cards, handles, center console, etc.
I have a factory Special Wishes full leather 993 and the work on this 968 looks as good as this. Which is to say it looks factory.
But its not in the option codes in the sticker in the trunk.
Was hoping you might be able to shed some light on this. Because its either the best aftermarket leather job I have ever seen, or it somehow some way is a factory leather interior that didn't make it onto the option codes.
And help greatly appreciated.

Hi ocelotfilm,
Good news, your cab is indeed one of the rare FULL leather 968s. 1 of only 30 cabs with full leather, 1 of only 7 with the full leather in cashmere/black.
The reason you are confused is that the full leather interior option appears in the two character interior code. The interior codes tell you the following:
1) Color
2) Type
3) Configuration
The North American 968s had 98 different interior codes over the 4 year production run!
Your car has code YA which is the full code for:
1) Cashmere
2) Leather
3) Full leather interior
The much more common LC is the code for:
1) Cashmere
2) Leather
3) Partial leather seats
And there are 5 other interior codes just for the cashmere interior family that cover full leather seats (LG), Multicolor cloth, partial and full seat (UX, RU), and Porsche script cloth partial and full (FS, JD).
The option codes for your car are 490/494 for the hi-fi sound and speakers and 691 am/fm single in-dash CD. Your car is an early car so you should have the recessed hood and larger rear emblems.
You have a special car there. Send me an email at Jeffery.coe@snet.net and we'll get you signed up for the 968 register. Hey, notice that even your e-brake handle has extra stitching and leather. Almost $5K for that interior in 1992.
Congrats,
Jeff

Hi Jeff, I will continue on this thread...
Looking at a 95 cab wpoca296xss840307
Seller had the owners manual stolen and I didn't see any option sticker or I missed it.
Can you help shed some light. Thanks

• NA 968 cabriolet 1992-1995 Production sequence number of 2,008: # 1949
• NA 968 cabriolet 1995 Production sequence number of 306: # 247
• Exterior Color statistics: 1 of 220 F8 Midnight blue cabs (most popular metallic color)
• Exterior/Interior/Top Color combo stats: 1 of 2 F8 Midnight blue cabs paired with a black interior and a dark blue cabriolet top (the black interior is unusual with the blue)
• Factory options with option codes:
o XD4 painted crest center caps
o LT partial leather in black
o 220 Limited slip differential
o 398 17" cup2 wheels
o 437/438 full power driver/passenger seats
o 490 hi-fi sound and amps
o 09991 – Exclusive program, present because of XD4 option
• Comments: Your 968 has option code 718 which means it was originally built in the previous model year and then reVINed by Porsche to reflect the next model year. The car was built in either May or June of 1994 and reVINed to be a 1995. (can you check the driver's door jam VIN sticker for me and let me know)
I have seen the car before. It was listed on Autotrader in March of 2003 in Texas with 95K miles on it.
Thanks
Jeff

I drove this blue cab last night.
the front spoiler ribs are gone, the exterior mouldings are glued on, the timing belt has not been changed in 12 years, the body needs a lot of tlc but the car could be brought back, no oil leaks. drivers bolster is worn. it can be bought for around 9.5k cdn I think. also has a 4k clarion stereo
when I drove it, being used to 951s it has very little power but drove nicely. Owner says he is going to trade the car on Monday for a lexus plus cash if he can't get his price.

Pass, if the belt has not been changed in 12 years and 4k was wasted on a stereo, you know lots of other things have been skipped!
I still think you should check this one out, I can check it out for you:

Body and interior wise it looks to be in decent shape except for the dent. That leaves you 10k for mechanicals and you get a nice solid car with a new known mech history.
And it is close to canada. I am tempted to buy it as a parts car...
