Close 996 multilink rear suspension. The car should have so much more grip on corner exit and a more compliant ride with higher spring rates...I've wanted to do something like this for 10 years since the 968.net days. The entire torsion bar carrier is coming out so the rear engine cross member will support the transaxle and I'm going to mount the strut tops at the top of the wheel wells so that shock adjustment is super simple and accessible. The sub frame mounting points will be 1x2" tube steel with welded reinforcements and I need to look into the rear ABS ring vs 968 as well as half shaft compatibility. Then i wanna do a CF rear luggage floor instead of sheet metal. I couldn't pass up all these parts which typically list for $1-2k used!

Wow, sounds very cool, but very complicated. Are you comfortable with the impact of an entirely different suspension design on all the complicated and intricate dynamics that occur under cornering? Way over my head, for sure.

Carbon fiber luggage floor, huh? I'm watching expectantly to see how your CF projects turn out. My car is primarily a track car, so I'm very interested in taking weight out of it wherever I can. Are your projects going to be one-off's for your car, or do you think you'd be able to produce duplicates for others who would be interested? For example, I'm salivating over the prospect of an ultra-light CF hood that's skin only, held down with hood pins at the four corners. I have a fiberglass hood now, but with all the reinforcements, and the retention of the hinges and latches, it isn't a whole lot lighter than my original steel hood.

Anyway, please keep us posted on your very interesting projects!

Yup, I'm down to 2, but ChatyJones has my former Blue Coupe, and he's taking great care of it! Good luck with the project, Trevor!

As far as I can see the mounting points for the upper arms may end up somewhere between the side members, not far below the fuel tank... Really interested in this project, please keep us updated.

Default Gt3 rear suspension

It's been done a few times I have driven a 944 full race on track with similar mod to Tony g and it reacts alot differently under 9 tenths the rear feels much more firmly planted and gives a bit more and different type of feedback. Not sure if a 944 Based chassis with exact same peremiters save for this rear suspension swap would actually give you any better lap times but its nice to dream! Lots of work ahead try these links for some reference
