$120,000 to build a 968 to equivalent or beyond "968 Turbo S" is inexpensive if professionally done right by HMR, RUF, or other known quality tuner/builder.

Regarding conformity to factory, that was not my priority. I do have a few parts that are factory turbo which were actually less expensive than custom fabrication. My priority was for Jason Lee at HMR to build my 968 Turbo with contemporary state of the art parts and design; much had to be custom designed and fabricated. Jason Lee succeeded; and to paraphrase the words of the editor of 9 Magazine, my 968 Porsche HMR Turbo is the most awesome street legal Porsche he has driven.

Interesting to see the count of offers received; like to know the amounts offered. Also, very interesting the high number of watchers, one of which is me, on the eBay 968 Turbo. Our 968s are hot!

The end of the article, the value is "estimated" to be $120,000 AUD, which today is about $118,812.00 USA.

In context with other current Porsche listings on eBay, $120,000 US for a well done 968 Turbo is inexpensive. A 1968 911 L soft targa in Irish green is listed at $125,000 OBO. Comparing commodities, not $, I would not trade my Porsche 968 HMR Turbo for either of those. That is not to say the two Porsches are over priced. Rather, it does indicate that the prices of rare special fun cars, especially Porsches, are going up up up.

Glad I have mine.

Well said. We still have quite a few naysayers.

There were times when I thought I would sell the turbo and maybe get a F430 or 997tt, but just couldn't get myself to do it.

If I ever get a 997tt or an F430 spider, it will be along my turbo.

All that is irrelevant in the USA market today, and in US $ today. BTW, you can't purchase a new 968 today as a donor car, nor the RS turbo parts.

350 HP. Mine has a reliable +500 HP if I want to set my Motronic there. Normally I have it at street sane and more gas efficient 350 HP.

Sorry, not really sure what you are trying to say. (Im not trying to argue with you either!) Of course a cars value is what someone will pay for it. In Australia, cars are much more expensive due to the higher initial purchase price, small market, etc. eg, a new boxster here starts at about 110k. Regular 968s go for 25 to 30k. If the seller gets 120k, great for him. That 75k car was originally advertised for 100k. It is also advertised in the uk.

Cheers

It still is not known what was done to the vehicle in your URL. I know the machining and parts used by HMR in my 968 Turbo; anyone can read the two articles in "9 Magazine" on my build.

The Motronic in my 968 Turbo allows the HP to be set at between 350 and over 525 HP. The Quality of build of my 968 Turbo allows it to be run from time to time on the Dyno as shown in the HMR youtube video without issue. The build is solid, reliable. Cost-wise you are looking at north of the eBay car and years to build.
