I was thinking his dark side was bumping up to the correct number of cylinders.
LOL... Almost as darK!
That is just a shade of gray Mike!
My dark side is e46 or e92 dark My shade of gray would be a newer Cayman S PDK.... either case is mucho dinero which is already earmarked for a startup...
Cup car would be awesome indeed... I just can't seem to stomach the running costs to really be competitive with other Cup Cars in pretty much every class you find them... Seems these days the standard is 40hr motors and sequentials wherever you look on that front But good luck though! I'd love to see you in one. You'll definitely be quick in it! Look out GreatLakes!
No worries... Maybe one of this days we'll cross paths in NY and I can tell you all about it... I go to Port Washington area fairly often... Have a friend/racer that owns a shop out there.
I hope I'm not being presumptive by speaking on a subject that I'm by no means an expert on, but you guys are highlighting an issue with racing a 968 - they seem to have a limited upward progression path. From my very limited understanding of the racing classes, it seems that they're quite competitive in the hands of a good driver in specific classes, both in PCA and in NASA, but they seem to be at a significant disadvantage in terms of weigh-to-power ratio when you try to move up even one class. In other words, they seem to be great cars to cut your racing teeth on, and if you're content staying in the classes where they're competitive, you're fine. But if you have ambitions to go faster, it seems like the best course is to move to a different car, if you can afford it (a VERY big "if"!).
What kind of resale value does a 968 race car with a winning track record have?

At least $100K! If it is Red with Aero then... Woaaa! Like $150k!
In your case, having your name on the car is probably worth at least $30K alone! Kind of like having the name "Babe Ruth" on an otherwise ordinary old baseball

As another shop put it, PMC is very fast. He helps make the car look faster than it is .
The 968 indeed is a great car to start racing with. The mods to go fast are well known and are not that expensive compared to others choices. "E" class with PCA is still very competitive with good fields. GTS-2 in NASA is strong in the Mid Atlantic region but here in the Mid West the fields have slimmed. I think there is an oppurtunity to exit the class and allow it to reform. If one shows up as an inexperienced racer without a developed car you are way off the pace and many times we never see newbies come back again. Jumping up a class will cost as much as 50% of what I can sell the car for and that isn't making a lot of sense. A cayman PDK or a cup car look like the way to go but that requires a pretty decent investment!!!
