Porsche 968cs hot lap video at Bathurst 2012
Guys. A hot of mine at The Porsche Easter Bathurst event. Here I was chasing two 997 GT3's. Was pretty pleased with the car. This was my fastest lap ever, 2min 42sec. Have a laugh and enjoy.

Great driving!
The track looks like a hoot, with some pretty serious elevation changes going through some of those turns, too!
Walls look closer and closer each time I watched!
Good job!
Jason
What was in front of the GT3's?

Thanks guys. The circuit is a public road! It gets closed for this event with residents getting access again at lunch. It's a fabulous challenging circuit and that's why the walls are there. Like Australia's version of TT Isle of man for cars at a stretch! The suspension mods on the car are significant, will post a write up on its own sooner or later. This car is the current class and outright championship winning car in the Porsche Club here, which was what it was built to win.
What's in front of the GT3's, are more GT3,s but heavily modified, some 3.8L ones, a GT2,a Carrera S running some good suspension and engine mods that flies, a 944 turbo 16v 3.OL that's a monster, and a green little 911 from maybe 1974 that's extremely fast with a 2.7. It flew over and competed in the recent Rennsport reunion in Leguna Seca so some of you may have seen it. Driver was Geoff Morgan.

Great driving, I've watched the Australian V8 series on Bathurst, very cool track. Gives a whole new meaning of keep it on the black stuff or else the wall will keep you on the black stuff :-)

Great stuff Mark!! Love the 'voiceovers' too. Looks like you weren't holding back to stay over the 2:40 mark. Right around the required time. Looks like you almost maxed it out down Conrod too. Great lines and driving.
Funny to hear all the comments about the walls. Growing up with images of Bathurst I find I don't even notice them.

Thanks Pat. I wasn't that aware I talk when I drive that much so it cracked me up.
The turn into the chase on Conrod straight was at about 7000rpm, maybe a tad over, in fifth. Not sure what that correlates to on the gearbox chart for the 968. I am away but maybe someone knows? Tyres are 265.35.18 on the rear. The lap was a pretty all out lap. The computer says there is another 0.4 sec in it but that's not much really. Ie still a 2min 42 sec lap.

There I was thinking you were in 6th! What gear/rpms are you at by the end of Eastern Creek's main straight?
Here's a chart of stock gears. Looks like you're hitting about 155mph/250kmh.
I have same stock gearing for the moment. Love to tap into the upper rpms in top gear.
So now that you're shooting some vids Mark, please continue this season and beyond. The car looks well sorted and you're getting a lot out of it. Fun to watch.
