How'd your car go there Eric? 2:51 is not bad first time around, well done.

Patrick,

The car went really well - best time was a 2:49.2. There were just a couple of places I couldn't commit to holding more speed - over skyline and through the chase in particular. It is certainly a track that could take a long time to master (at least in my case!).

Here's an in car video link of a lap. Not as quick as Mark's lap - but gives you some idea of speed.

Great Video Eric! Looks like a blast to drive at Bathurst. Being a flatlander from Florida it would take me a bit to get used to the hills!

Eric...if you are possibly interested I have my race KW's for sale. Be prepared for superior handling and comfort but unfortunately there is a downside. They make you faster on the track therefore increasing the cost per second factor!!
To be honest your car looks very promising but I'm a bit concerned at how much movement it's getting at speed. Not just pushing my KWs but I think you should consider some adjustments or upgrades. The car is plenty fast and faster than the suspension seems to be IMHO.

ps good driving too Eric and great to see you guys represent! Much jealousy!!

Patrick thanks. Unfortunately the risk of having an off and having to get my car back to Brisbane (I drove it down) may have slightly tempered my agressiveness (call it the wus factor)

Patrick - yes the car is a little bit nervous in places. I think the problem is mainly in the rear. I have the Koni 30 series coil overs and they just don't do it for me. The bump control is too soft (non adjustable) and the rebound is a bit iffy. It is like the initial rebound control is too soft yet also too slow. Comparing this to my BMW, the BMW feels much more controlled (it has sh*t loads more grip than the 944 in the wet) even though it has softer springs. Hard to explain, but I get the feeling the rear is never quite planted. Because of this I have to be careful with the front rear balance as the rear can get a bit nervous under braking (I did spin it once when hitting the anchors on an uneven track but in a straight line from 180km/h as the rear kicked to one side). On a smooth track they are OK, but bumps really unsettle it.

I was actually looking at the KW Clubsports as I wanted something much more track focussed (I only drive on the street to and from the track).

I may be interested in the race but like everything it depends on $. I don't want to do the suspension yet again, and I'm not sure how the race compare to the the clubsport and if it will be too stiff for my needs. Currently I have 350F and was going to go up to 450-500F.

Interested in any more info you have.....

Edit - just found your last PM - you were going to try and confirm what rate springs you had. (and are they 60mm or 2.25"?)

Hi Slide,Yes, the suspension and diff are all very modified. Shocks are Koni Race 2800 series and superb. They are particularly impressive as I stil drive the car to and from the circuit and it's 'ok'.

Mark, what diff do you have in the car? Glad to see that the Konis worked out. The car looks really nicely setup and planted in the video.

Eric I'll take this off Mark's thread. PM sent.

Pat the car runs the OS Gicken unit RSbarn (Pete) specs. It's a very good and clever diff. I previously had the Porsche Option 220 LSD but if you really really push it this is a much better unit. If people don't I think the Porsche one good.
