Our 968 man, Mel from Jacksonville, just called me and by golly, it did sell for $315. Mel spoke to buyer, Prescott Kelly, former President of PCA, and he advised Mel that car will be sent to Colorado for display in a car museum. More details as we get 'em.

Congratulations to Prescott Kelly!!!!!! Thanks to Mel for acting as our 968 man-on-the-scene, look forward to buying you dinner and drinks at one of the Hershey Swap Meets, hopefully on April 21!

Well I guess I stand corrected. I really didn't think it would go for anywhere near that much. I think I said not over $175k. Guess I'm not the guy to call for your car appraisal!!

I wonder which museum? I'm here in the great Denver area and with the local Porsche Breakfast Club have been to most (I think) of the car musesums.....

Yeah, my guess was $175k but I did mention the possibility that someone who knew the previous owner would bid on the car. Matt's widow and 2 children will be happy to hear of the success of the sale of his 17 car collection.

Forgot to mention - Mel also said that Turbo S Clone sold for $66K and Sunoco Porsche sold for a cool $4 million!

Once Mel gets back from the auction, I am sure he will provide more detail on the auction.

Great sales prices for all the cars in the Dendrel collection. A little over 18 million for the entire collection + 10% buyers premium. The turbo clone was a great car, only 12000 miles, 200k invested in the build. I will post some pic's when I get back home on Monday.

Here's a pic to confirm the sale of the 968 TRS. Mr. Prescott Kelly was very gracious & cordial to allow me to intrude upon him during the action to speak to me a few minutes to confirm his plans for the car. He's a class act no doubt!

It was pretty wild to see some of the sales. A world record was set for a 550 spyder at $3,350,000! Seemed fitting that the Drendel Sunoco 917-30 brought the $4million. The two Drendel 935s sold for $2.3 & $2.95 million each. The cars in the Dredel collection did very well. I met some of the people from Matt's shop, & friends/family. Some were right next to me during the sale & they seemed very pleased.

As a recap on some of the Drendel cars of most interest here:

The 1988 944 Turbo S sold for $75,000;

1980 924 GTP @ $350,000;

1991 944 S2 Cab @36,000;

1986 944 Turbo Cup @ $72,000;

1994 968 Turbo S Clone @ $66,000;

1981 944 GTP @ $280,000;

and last but not least,
the 1992 968 Turbo RS @ $315,000.

I have many, many other pics of all the others. Will probably be posting them sporadically since I have to resize them 1st & I will be at the AI Concours all day tomorrow.

One of the guys from the Drendel shop was kind enough to open up the hood to allow me to take a few pics of the engine.

Mel,

Great photos, especially the one with the price board over the 968 TRS - that is definitely going into my 968 Library book!

Thanks again for attending the event.

Great purchase on the turbo S clone. Also happy to see the RS go for such a high price. I would never have considered it worth that.

Here's the link to the Gooding & Co's auction summary. The prices include the 10% buyer's premium.

Here's a few more pics. The '94 Turbo clone looked as awesome in person as it does in the photos. Think the Odo showed 115k miles. Interior was very nice, and original. Thought the info card on the 968 TRS would be of interest to many. Also took a pic of the 968 Register sticker on the windshield of the 968 TRS. And Jeff, Mr. Kelly said he did know who you were when I dropped your name.
