what did you do with your 968 today.....

I don't have a 968 right now but I rented a garage that holds three cars the other day. This winter I will be storing my 996 in there along with two other of my friend's cars, one on rollers sideways in the back.
What does this mean? This means once spring comes, I will have two extra spaces, but I will move the 951 in there, and at my house I will have one extra space. So if I see something that I can't pass up....I'll have a storage space already!

On the rear tweeters, I've found that the Focal tweeters are a perfect diameter fit for the round holes in the rear speaker grill. I haven't put the interior panel back in place yet, so the tweeter is just mounted onto the black bracket with 3M vhb double-stick tape for now. I'm not positive, but I think I can leave it like that and it'll be just enough protrusion to sit nicely in the hole. If not, I may have to glue it. I mounted the Focal crossover inside the speaker well, below the speaker, with VHB tape.
I'll be leaving that interior panel off for a while so I can locate some water intrusion above the seat belt.
I'll be doing the driver's side this weekend.

I picked mine up from the shop (from PPI earlier in the week, they said to make it mechanically perfect I should 1) have the balance shaft belt retensioned (hadn't been re-tensioned since timing/balance belt service about a year/4k mi ago), 2) replace the fuel filter (original one was still in it!)). So, I had those 2 items done, as well as an oil/filter change and installed a new steering column module (not sure of the exact term) - the original had the cruise control lever broken, and I found another with everything functional/unbroken - after that, I was able to confirm that cruise control works! Now I just need to get those rear seats fixed (separation of leather at the top seam) .
So ... mostly, I just picked it up and drove it for almost an hour (first time driving it on my own since purchasing it on Tuesday ) ... Drove just a few miles of east of where I live in Albuquerque to some nice empty mountain roads behind the Sandia Mountain Crest. Had a blast! This car drives so well ... and I Iove it in white! I stopped a few times to just drool over it, and snap a few pictures.

Thanks Paul - definitely a clean, no-issues car. The more I look at it, the more I think it needs 17-inch wheels, spacers and lowering to have a better stance. I'm reading through tons of threads on suspension upgrade recommendations - quite a few options out there ...
Anyone have suggestions on a good coilover (or other) suspension upgrade for a mostly street / occasional DE car? M030 vs Bilstein Escort Cup?

Let us know what you eventually end up going for and why...

I picked up a set of these from Pelican parts and installed them on my coupe glovebox today. Easy install, but it did not do anything with the old pieces. I guess I might try to find get them out later.

In the time after swapping to the high output pump, the problem of too much switched current, re; the ignition switching on the combined [computer + fuel pump circuit] eventually stressed the electrical box to the point of internal arcing and subsequent relay failure.... the result, (a common problem with early Chevy efi systems), produces a result quite similar to our DME relay issues.... I went about searching the internet and found where to check for a burnt relay... opened the computer hatch and found the suspect relay was clearly 'burnt'.... The events that brought this discovery proved yet again, that a good amateur mechanic like Doug Bray can keep this beast running indefinitely.... i didn't want to go near it, but Doug went straight to work......
By re-routing the fuel pump circuit and simply running a pigtail off the ignition wire into a new, dedicated relay box, and by changing the oem 14 (or 16) gauge wire to #10 wire, the high amps/high heat running on 1 circuit is now distributed to 2 low amps/low heat circuits.... Now my computer is running cool, and with plenty of juice.... With about 4 hous of work, Doug ascended to legend status... because not only do i have a perfectly running engine with just the single turn of the key, but this relatively easy upgrade can be done for the 944/968's running the oem engines.

Finished sorting electrical drain issues. There were two. One was an aftermarket amplifier directly wired to battery that remained on. The other was fuse 8 (interior lights) which I removed (fuse) when I discovered the drain. The funny part was that it still was a drain after I removed the fuse. After removing the lights (front deck lid, rear deck lid and interior bulbs) and putting the fuse back in the drain stopped.
Also cleaned the rear deck lid (cabriolet) and gas fill drains. Had to pull the right side drain from grommet to clean it. I could not get the hose back into grommet without pulling the ballast out. Dang that thing is heavy. The OD of the drain was close to 1/2" and the grommet was 3/8" (or the metric equivalents). May have been able to push it through in my younger days, lol.

What this tells me is that potentially you have a bad ground some where. A circuit is back feeding power into this circuit and using it to provide a circuit path to ground. Great that you stopped the battery drain, but most likely did not completely solve the issue. These can be tricky.
Thanks again for the great input Paul!
