what did you do with your 968 today.....

Didn't do anything today, but this past Saturday I replaced the rear hatch shocks and adjusted the latching pegs so now my rear hatch pops open completely when I hit the switch, and it closes properly as well. Also installed a set of bumper plugs on the front bumper. Man, I was beyond anxious drilling out the existing holes to a larger size so as to fit the plugs. One slip and my nice bumper paint would have been toast! Plugs look great and fit very well.

Yup - plugs sold in speed yellow. Can't quite tell if they match as the rain yesterday prevented my from getting her out of the garage to see in natural light. I think they're close, but not perfect. Will let you know one way or the other.

Snugged up on my oil pan gasket bolts and the lower balance shaft front housing to at least slow down a oil leak.
Driving it like i stole it. Totally enjoying my 968.
203,370.0 miles and counting.
Will be placing a order for a new pair of rear 275/40/17 rear tires very soon.

Yesterday I pulled out the console and removed the aftermarket stereo. What a mess. The antenna cable was severed and "fixed" with duct tape A couple of times I made the lower pitched horn sound. I received a shop manual today and have been looking it over while scratching my head. Hopefully I can make some sense of it soon. This is an example of the condition of the connections: (Sorry the focus is not great on the loose wires)

Installed my euro turn signals last night as well as the CS coin tray. Next up is the black hazard switch and the early rolled exhaust tip.
This spring I plan to tackle the radio - currently an ugly aftermarket unit installed - and remove the hardwired radar detector wiring. Fingers crossed my radio harness hasn't been butchered! I'm almost afraid to look!!!

Yesterday I decided to do away with the stock stereo. Tape deck with a nonworking CD changer and LOUSY FM reception just wasn't doing it for me.
I went with a Pioneer AVH3300NEX. Not a lot of external bling. No factory wires were harmed during this process.
Today, I finished swapping out the door speakers and tore out the right rear interior panel looking for a leak around the seat belt/B-pillar area, and check the rear speakers for swap options.

i was really contemplating that radio for my car. wasn't sure how I'd feel about the climate controls being covered up all the time because I know I'd mostly have the screen up. at least I see now that it will fit. bk and forth between it and the avh-4200.

I wound up having a standard VW harness in the car. Had bought Metra 70-1822 harness adapter that I'd read was needed for this car... it was incompatible.

BTW, I replaced the door speakers with a pair of Focal ISS130. Although the mounting holes didn't quite line up, it was a relatively easy fix. Rotate the speaker slightly to the tabs sit just outside the stock mounting molded circle. Mark and drill new holes. The speaker connector will cause the speaker to sit off-center in the hole, so bend them inwards a bit and it will center better. I used my laser cutter to cut foam gaskets to fill in behind the speaker, and then glued the included foam gasket to the top of the frame, to help press the grill away a bit farther.
And speaking of the grill, what a poor design. The lower edge of the grill rests right on the surround. I used a dowel chucked into my drill press to flatten the end of the grill and move it further away from the surround. Haven't done the tweeters yet.
