I'm confused now. So, it's not a Canadian car, it's a Japanese car imported to Canada and it's not a true CS because it doesn't carry the M030 option code? Is that right?

No it's not a Canadian car, no CS were imported to Canada.Very common up here to have CS Japaness imported they usually end up in BC because it's close to Japan (well close & not). Not having the M030 code option don't mean it's not a true CS some came with it some didn't.We are getting pretty nice car over here from Japan ,a friend of mind got himself a 928 S4 last year with only 70K klm on it.The car first show up in BC then spend some time in Ontario & finally end up in Montreal where he bougth it.

Correct. You can bring a Canadian spec 968 over to US, since all of North American cars started with VIN WP0AA while the ROW cars had WP0ZZ.
My turbo is a Canadian spec 968 and I had no issues registering it in US.
So, this car would have a VIN that is not NA spec, so you would have problems registering it in US.

Ok, I think I've got it. So, this is a rare CS, originally imported to Japan and now in Canada intended for Canadian buyers only.

You are getting there. You would be suprised to find that it isn't even that rare in the 968 world. Porsche produced 1,538 ROW 968 CS coupes. They produced 2,234 North American coupes in ALL FOUR YEARs of 968 production. Only 99 of those 2,234 are M030 cars so they are much rarer. Still, looks like a very nice car.

Wow, yes, that gives a little better perspective. So, what is the difference between a CS like this one and an M030 CS?

M030 was a factory fit option to a standard CS.

Larger calipers / rotors
30mm/19mm sway bars
Adjustable stiffer suspension

Nice, but I'm surprised no ECU re-map or head/valve massage for a kick in horsepower ..
No matter what, I LOVE the car in Speed Yellow, it really looks 'the business'

The SC weigth less the a regular 2,913pds versus 3,186pds for the regular 968 some 273 pds less.#1-no air bags-#2 fiberglass seats #3 SC steering wheel #4 no casette box not sure 100% on that one but you could order it AC, rear seats, & radio deleted. All of creatures comfort that add up to performance at the end of the line.

Ernie... you're over on the 968 Coupe by about 100 pounds.

i'm almost certain the stock coupe is just about 3 thousand and ninety or something like that.

the 3,186 sounds just about right for a Cabriolet.

btw, by running lighter exhaust, front seats and doing the rear seat delete, etc i dropped about 120 pounds off the car.... then i put it right back on with the larger wheels, tires and brakes.... then added a bit more still with the amps and subwoofer, but now the center of gravity is a good deal lower.... and on a smooth curvy road, the car feels like it's stuck to the road at the four points of contact.

on bad roads, running the additional unsprung weight, the car suffers. still, i love the upgrade to bigger wheels.

ok, found the weights.

6-speed Coupe is 3,086 pounds.

Tiptronic Coupe is 3,151 pounds.

6-speed Cabriolet is 3,175 pounds.

Tiptronic Cabriolet is 3,240 pounds.

imagine the Clubsport weight running all the horspower of the Turbo S.

must be a whole nuther kind of driving experience. not to mention embarrassing all the mid-'90s 911s.

.
