Default Feeler: 1-2 yrs plan to get into a Ferrari

I have been contemplating selling both 968's over the next couple of yrs and moving into a 360 Spider. So far, its just a plan but it would probably start with selling the cabriolet 1st. Hard to believe, with yrs of so much hard work I would actually want to change.
What do you guys think?

The 360 is a nice car and I have contemplated one as well, I've driven a coupe on the track and it is very, very nice. The spider I've driven on the street and it is a great car as well.

You'd rather have a 360 convertible than a 968 turbo coupe??? Are you crazy?

I'd actually get the spider over the coupe as well if I wasn't going to track it.

I don't think you're crazy at all. Maintenance costs aside, any Ferrari model after the 348 is a seriously good car & the 355/360 variants are becoming extremely tempting options to spend the disposable $$$ on.

Depreciation is always going to be a concern, but if you buy well (condition, options, 6 speed, maintenance etc), you can enjoy for a couple of years & not loose too much at all.

I understant wanting to move on to another mark but....

There are only a couple of Ferrai's that I truely have any interest in and all of them are vintage are way out of my price range. The Dino tops the list.

After taking a close look at 4 groups this summer, the Z car group, the BMW group, Ferrai and the Porsche group it was very clear to me. All of these group were in Savannah this summer so I got a chance to see close up all of the owners.

This statement will get flamed but.......... Porsche is for drivers and Ferrai's are for posers. Raj, I do not know you well but I cant imange you dress all in red with spiked hair and gold chains. Oh and driving shoes......

Also this is a buyers market not a sellers. I do not see the market turing around until 2014 at the earliest, 2018 if we do not change the current administration.

MJC

Just me .02 cents.

both of your P-cars are incredible. but, you need to keep the white car.

you can find a way to get a 360 after the cab is away to a new home.

sell the cab and get a 308. you'll have your ferrari fix and still have a fast car in the turbo. besides id rather have a classic ferrari than a newer one anyways... better group of people imho...

The wide ratio 6 speed transmission of the 996 TT is a complete clunker compared with the close ratio gated 6 speed manual of the 360. I added Evo's short shifter and will probably go to Paul Guard gears this winter. All to fix something that was perfect out of the box on the 360.

Exhausts: I switched to the tubi's on the 360 and it has been incredible ever since. With the windows up at 80mph it is incredibly quiet. On the TT I have changed exhausts 6 times. Stock to Evo's to Fabspeed x 3 to Tubi's. About the only one I haven't tried is the Ruf. BTW, they are very friendly. Still the TT has terrible resonance. I need to wear a football mouth guard to prevent dental damage from the vibration.

I heard an old story about why Porsches are the way that they are and Ferraris the way they are. It all had to do with which side of the Alps you lived on. North is Germany and Porsche. South is Italy and Ferrari. It went something like this. If your car broke down at 10 pm on a mountain road..what do you do?

Well, in Germany you need a reliable car with a heater or you freeze to death. So there is no consideration for style only function. In the norther Alps of Italy all you do is walk down the road to the nearest farm house and make love to a beautiful Italian woman while her brother fixes your Ferrari. Translated..it's all about style. Who cares if the pistons are square...... Since Ford? bought a lot of Ferrari the quality has come up considerably but the basic flavor of the story still persists.

I'd love the cab. It would be a great compliment to the Maritime coupe. Guess I am #2 in line? haha

that being said, i'm interested in what you'd be looking for for the turbo. I was looking into going down that road anyways with my coupe... Let me know if you're serious!

I figured I try to get as much details on both cars 1st and go from there. They have been my heart and soul for yrs. Maybe I am not driving them enough. The turbo especially, I can't imagine anyone being able to replicate it with all the original factory parts.
I need to go drive them and report .

Love the 360 and the 430 and 460 even more. Buy the car that provides the greatest rush when you sit behnd the wheel. I own 2 Porsches and 3 before these and still love the design and sound of Ferrari's. I recently spent the day on track with a Ferrari racer who drives all sorts of race craft. He had nothing but great things to see about the performance and reliability of the 360 and newer models. As for Ferrari owners being jerks, I've met jerks who drove other vehicle types as well.

Go with your heart, live to is too short to stick with only one sports car type in a life time.
