They're a very simple touch that cleans everything up. I wander how much money Porsche was trying to save by not putting the covers on later cars? I'm sure some nerd with a calculator made a compelling argument.

I would say about $20-$30 for the front and rear set (adjusted to current day dollars). It would greatly depend on whether they're injection molded or vacuum.

The stories of how bad business was for Porsche in the early '90s seem true when you look at things like missing trim. The late 968s did get some goodies to make up for it, though, like 993 seats and updated castor blocks.

I've seen the 968 rear engine bay cover on a 951 and it's too short - it looked bad. Maybe you can make something similar though? Carbon fiber? Maybe you can use a 968 piece as a template and just make it longer. Hey, that would be a HOT item.

Nothing says that more then the option code 718 cars (not just 968s but 928s and 911s too). These are cars from the previous model year, reVINed and sold as the current model year!!!

I never thought about it, but you're right, only a company hurting for money would relabel 1-year-old cars as fresh cars.
