new tires?

new tires?
I'm in need of new rear tires and since the fronts are about 50% worn (but 6 years old) I've decided to replace all 4. I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport 2s (17 inch wheels) on the car and was generally happy w/them but thought I'd see if anyone had other recommendations. Thanks.

I'm loving the Pilot Super Sports I put on my Audi and will be putting either those or the V12 mention above or the Cont DW on one of the 968s in the next few months.

Falken tires here all the way, either the FK 452 or Azenis RT615, got 225-45-ZR-17 front & 255-40-ZR-17 rear on mine and I'm very satistify with the ride & handling wet or dry.

Summer only? All season? Performance driving use?
My 944 came with some 17's and some Fuzion ZRi tires. 225/45-17 and 255/40-17 rear. They have been fine "street" tires and I was even able to win my local PCA AX class on them.
I think they are maybe $120ea? so if price is a concern you might consider them.

I had to replace my summer tires this season: I'd been running Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's for years, but they're now discontinued.
Tirerack guy suggested Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec's ($80.00 rebate now) and I think they're great. Much, much less (like zero) tramlining over pavement, very grippy, very comfortable ride.

I have been using the Falken Azenis RT-615K which is a street legal motorsports and DOT approved track competition tire. Great in the wet and dry weather conditions. I had previously used the Michelin Pilot Sport which is also a good performance summer tire. The only problem I had with the Michelin tires is that they are very hard and take a while to warm up.

+1 on the Dunlop Direezzas or however they are spelled.
I put mine on almost a year ago, and they've been great. The only complaint I can make is that they make a little more road noise than the Pilot Sports that were on there prior, and they chase grooves in the asphault a little, but I think part of that is the 968.

I really have very little to compare the Direzzas to. I had the Pilot Sports on for a couple months tops, and they were close to the wear bars when I changed them out. I mostly remember them being a little quieter on the highway, but I don't think they were as grippy. The Pilot Sports were also much more expensive.
