Default front bra advice

After repainting my front bumper for the 968 last year it is now damaged again from a garage mishap. Instead of fixing it I am going to purchase a bra. It is a black car so it will look OK. I know bra's are about as popular as bell bottom jeans but I do not want to fix it untill this winter. Does anyone have a 968 bra? Also what should I look for in getting a qaulity one?

Pelican carries the factory bra. Don't anything about it though.

I guess it doesn't matter because it already has some damage, but they can cause some paint scuffing if left on after getting wet... Too much trouble for me to have to remove and dry every time it rains...

Thanks for the advice, I do not drive it in the rain so that should not be an issue. I will call Pelican today.

The colgan from Pelican is $134 and the factory is $119. Still go with the factory or is the Colgan better? I just want the best bra and do not care about paying a few extra bucks for a better one.

I've bought Colgan bras for a few former cars. The fit and quality has always been excellent. I'll be getting one for my 968 soon. The factory bra might have a nice debossed Porsche crest logo in it tho...

The 968 factory bra is a hassle to put on and off compared to most, but if you're going to leave it on that won't be an issue. A word of advice though, if you leave the hood piece on for any length of time, your paint could be damaged, particularly if it gets the least bit wet, even from condensation in a hot garage. I had that occur on a Boxster sitting in the garage over a summer without ever being driven in the rain and had only been a few hundred miles in 6 months. I have since stopped using a bra except on long road trips, and even then I take it off once I arrive and put it back on for the trip home.

Thanks for the tip on the hot garage. I do not drive it in the rain so that is good to know. I did order the Colgan one from Pelican.

Hi guys, first post.
I've recently become the second owner of a '93 build 968 Cabrio which has only 40,000km, or about 28,000 miles [I think] on it. It has been babied but has a few stone/insect chips in the paint. I live in the bush so road debris is a real issue, and a bra seems a lot of work to hide the looks of the car every time I take it out.
So....does anyone have any experience of the 3M, or other, films that are permanently applied to protect vulnerable areas of the paint. It's not cheap, but it looks like the answer for me. The car lives under a cover in the garage, so UV won't be an issue. Yes it's still a baby.
