Default Best clutch for street use?

Hey,
I'm taking my car in for the pinion bearing. I was thinking of having the clutch done at the same time 87,000 miles now. What is the best clutch for street use. I'd like to have a softer effort.

Thanks

Mac - It's not that much of a "while your at it" advantage on these as it is on the 944's; You could let it go a bit longer unless you're already feeling it slip or the take up point is getting high.
You might consider replacing the hydraulics (master/slave and pressure hose). I did mine a couple years back and it wasn't that difficult.

Agree with John. If you decide to have the clutch replaced then just get a new one from Porsche. A properly installed OEM clutch should have much softer pedal action than your old one.

Thanks guys. Will go with the master/slave cylinders, and save the clutch for later.

Mac, if you hold off on the clutch hydraulics until I get back in town, I'd be glad to offer a hand, and use of my lift.

That would be great! I always appreciate learning more about my car and saving money in the process. Better to spend the labor money on barbecued steaks and good beers.

Thanks!

My clutch pedal is insanely heavy. I haven't installed it yet, but I wanted to go lighter so I got a 2500 lb. pressure plate clutch kit through Pete at RS Barn. The PP is made by AP.

The Sachs PP that comes with the OEM 968 clutch kits now is a 3100 lb. 964 unit. The original 2500 lb. Sachs 968 PP was discontinued. The 964 PP works, but it creates a heavier pedal than what 968s originally came with.

Will report on the clutch feel once I get the new parts in there.

You can get the original pressure plate, but only through the dealer. No better/softer pedal than stock Love it.
