LOL, a $30k car and the hand brake doesn't work. WTF.
Joska, if I understand you correctly, the mechanism in the handle itself has failed, and you can either open it up and try to fix it (maybe it's fixable), or you can replace it. I don't know what the authentic 968 turbo S handle looks like, but the 968 handles were wrapped in vinyl, and 944 handles were part leather and part plastic. If you're worried about authenticity you should find out which kind you need. Viel Glueck.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe that someone purchasing a $30k car would have to fix the parking brake. I've got some more colorful comments for the seller but I think I'll keep them to myself.

Here the problem with the parking brake handle.
The rod what is connected to the push button has two notches. One is pulling the tooth leveler to lock it and the other one is pushing the tooth leveler to release it. The one notch, what pushes the leveler is broken, missing or not at the right place. The problem is, that you can replace only the whole handle, because the leather is glued all around.
The previous owner, I guess, never had the problem, because otherwise he would have replaced it prior to selling the car. It just must have happend during the transport.

I wish it was easier to recover the leather on these eBrakes. There are millions of good working black ebrakes out there for cheap.. but many of us with the linen, gray, or cashmere ebrakes need to replace them..

I've never seen seats that bad. But even the carpet looks stained, I wonder if it will clean up.
I may have a line on light gray e-brake and carpet. Shipping the carpet to Deutschland might cost more than it's worth. I'll inquire about the emergency brake handle.
