Lack of interest in 968
I have had my 1994 968 for sale on Rennlist and other Porsche WEB sites for two months now and had very little interest. When I bought it two years ago it seemed to be very much in demand and was a great buy for anybody that wanted more than a 944 Turbo but couldn't afford a 911/Boxter (OK that is oversimplifying it). Has the drop in Boxter prices (to low 20K in some cases) affected the interest in these cars? This is the best car I have ever owned and generally had no problem selling cars not nearly as nice in the past....what's up?...the economy?

I tried putting my old coupe on Rennlist and 968.net, and basically was tortured by tirekickers and know-it-alls who wanted me to give them the car for free. I had much better response in my local paper, but finally the sale went to someone who was clued onto my car from a fellow Rennlister. All 'fun' cars are in freefall now, the economy just isn't supporting them. It'll turn around, but Boxters in the mid twenties are hurting 968 sales I think.

I can't believe someone would choose a boxster over a 968. Its down right wrong.
Try listing on autotrader, and cars.com. I have had my best luck with autotrader.
Good luck.

My '92 968 cab was for sale about a year ago, for two months, before I wised up. Best offer I got on ebay was $12,000 for a two owner 99% perfect cab with all records since new, and up to date maintenance. In my opinion, 968's are going to start going up in price in about five years, assuming the economy makes some sort of recovery and stabilizes, due to the limited number of cars made. Until then, tho, its definitely a buyers market.

Yes, it is a very tough market and only getting tougher. The problem is that with the soft economy people are in conservative mode and not thinking "toys". I am sure when the market turn around, people will be back lining up to buy these cars.
Case in point, I sold a 1992 968 blk/blk car in decent condition with 82k miles for the asking price of $16,900. I would be lucky to get $13,500 if that for the same car a year later.

Raj-
Mercedes offers 2.9% financing on a stock C320 sedan. List is about $41,000- they offered an out the door for about $36,000. Then offered about $1000 more on a 1998 Explorer trade than I have been getting.
Alas, I am not worthy.

Wow, that is a nice car and has some good power as well. I like them. Its just hard to get used to a small mercedes. Usually they are so big. Excellent car and price though.

im almost in the marke for a 968, or a m3, or a 348ts, or a hummm skyline. but I really like my 944's so ill probably stick with the 968. im looking for a black or red ext with a black int nothing else. so my pickins are a little more slim.
oh ya i have to mention the fact that there are new cars added to the junk yards almost daily.. so sooner then later the 968 will be verry rare.

Couldnt understand why anyone would take a boxter before a 968.. in my opinion, the 968 is the second best looking car porsche ever made ( 904 #1 ofc hehe ). Im gonna get me one when i get a little more cash
