Default Steering Wheel option?

Has anybody replaced their sterring wheel with a raid airbag wheel? Available from Gert @ Carnewal there are a few options (Daytona (1st pic), Freeway, Siblberpfeil (2nd)) in 340mm diameter. I'm not sure what if any mods would be necessary - I've seen claims that the 964 hub will work on a 968??? But cost from Gert (including airbag) comparable to a 993 wheel & Airbag and if theres no mods required....and if you have a tip for abit (ok a lot more) you could upgrade to paddle shifting....

Usually most of us will go with the (968 SC) witch is the rigth steering for the 968, available from Sunset Porsche witch and is a direct fit with no mods require. But the problem is that it's a none air bag one & is only available in black .If deleting the air bag is no problem with you I suggest you do get an SC you'll find that it one of the nicest steering wheels around & has a complete different feeling than your OE one.Sending you pic of mine witch I install on my 93 last summer.

^+1 I have the wheel and I LOVE it. Sunset Porsche in Oregon has the best price on them.

All you need is to plug a 3ohm resistor into the airbag light plug and it will fool the computer into thinking you have an airbag.

If you wear your seatbelt, you don't need an airbag!

LOL. Well I hope I never find out for sure!

I have a 964 airbag wheel on my car right now, so I can say for sure a 964 hub would work on a 968.

Ernie, I always love seeing that pic! Question - do your keys ever hit your knees?

Small question...If a 964 airbag wheel fits a 968, will it also fit 88 951?

Lol never got got hurt by my keys for the last 27 yrs ,I live in a fair size town where everyboby knows everybody, so most of the time we don't bother taking the key out of the car unless going at the shoping center. Had them hanging the same way in my 944,it's a phobie with me I simply can't leave the keys in the ignition.

They are (at least the Daytona) essentially the same as RUF’s – made by the same company as I understand it… If it’s a direct bolt-on (964?) I would go with one of these and pull the RAID sticker and replace it with a PORSCHE or 968 one to dress it up a little…

And while I like the look of the CS wheel I would preferred to keep an airbag (newer too vs an almost 20 year old model). I also like a smaller diameter (340mm vs 360mm) and as I understand it brings it out about another 20mm – being 6’4” a little more leg room and closer to me would be a benefit...

A key chain that long would certainly make it easier to grab and pull out the key (from the ignition or your pocket)!
