It's very similar to a 951 coolant reservoir but the mounting tabs are at a different location.

Can't your local Porsche dealer parts counter order one for you?

highly doubtful.... nore likely, you'll be taking a 951 res and modding it.

If I could find a part # I would try. But what did the guys who did conversions do? Did they find a factory one? And if so what's the part #? If they modded a 951 res, how did they go about doing so?

You can buy a 968 reservoir and a 944T reservoir. Cut off the tabs which are bonded to the 968 reservoir. Figure out how far over the mounts need to be (to allow the reservoir to be all the way to the left under the fender), and get some plastic to use as spacers (rub strip plastic from Pegasus will work). 3M makes glue for slippery plastics (like the reservoir and rub strips) available from boating supply houses and Grainger. Glue it up. The 968 reservoir becomes a donor for those brackets. Your mileage may vary.

If one can't modify a coolant res, a turbo conversion may be a stretch??

But, you could call speedforce racing, they will make you a nice aluminium tank.
I think they are $300 or $400.

On my 968 turbo conversion we used the 951 tank and used spacers.

Interesting ways of doing it guys. Porschedude, we could do it ourselves, sure. But a fool learns from his own mistakes, a wise man learns from others. A factory piece would be the 1st choice obviously.

I like Joel's approach, not that a cobbed tank can't be slick as well.

FWIW, the factory tank was "cobbed" together, perhaps by the manufacturer, perhaps by the factory. It is made just about as I described, based on photographs from original cars.
Knock yourself out getting a new one. P/N 951.106.025.30. Hasn't been available from the factory for years.
