I know Jeff will be the best to answer this question. Jeff, I read on Ebay that you helped someone find out they had the 51st 968 coupe made. If I am following you I believe I have the 50th 968. I hope so and can you confirm. My vin # is WPOAA2967NS80110.

RGS,
Correct!!! First off, a slight error in your VIN. You are missing a 2, it should read WP0AA2967NS820110. As you read, Porsche started selling cars here in the North American market with VIN 61. With each year and each series (coupe/cab) they would start again. You have #50 of the full coupe run of 2,234 and #50 of the 649 92 coupes. I see your car is black with a partial black leather interior and you have the $1347 optional radio with CD player/amplifer option (includes 2 amps in 92 and full hi-fi speakers). Your car is also an early one so you should have the recessed hood badge and edged rear emblem. If you wouldn't mind, could you check your production date for me found on the driver's door jam VIN sticker? You should see 10/91 but you could see 9/91. Thanks

Thanks Jeff, That is really cool to have the #50 coupe. I was hoping I was right from the information you gave the other guy. I always have been meaning to contact you about getting it on the registry. What information do you need from me besides the vin #? I am assuming the location which is Columbus, Nebr. Do you want pictures as well?

Jeff, You are also right about the vin. I missed the a # on the bill of sale but confirmed on the car. I wish I had the original stereo. Resale value is not that important to me anyway, I purchase the car to keep not resell. Also mine is missing the sticker on the door as well. Is that common for those to be gone?

Jeff, I did find the bar code and vin # on the passengers side door. No date or Fed. warning note though, just a small label. From the information I have about the car I find it unlikely that the drivers door has been replaced but can not say for certain. Since neither 50 or 51 has the drivers side sticker is there something that could have been different at the factory for these cars? As far as the test I assume it is the #10 coupe.

Jeff, I do have the rescessed hood badge but no rear emblems. PO told me one # fell off so he took the other two off. A little harder to see them on black anyway but eventually I hope to find them. Speaking of black. Do you have idea how many black coupes were made in 92" and would you have any idea how many were made before mine. Thanks

Kind of, first, it is 60 (to subtract), not 61, and it restarts with every year and each body type. And this is just for 968s. I think other series (like the 928s) worked the same but I don't know for sure. The easiest thing to do is ask me as i have the master list for the 968s and I'll tell you. Jeff

Here is a photo of the edged emblem. Can you tell the difference?
