New Owner - New Home for Project 968
Some of you may remember Gregg Lewis' 'Project 968' and watching it go through a full new paint job last year. I've been planning to fill the third spot in my garage for the last few years and shopped lots of different options. Gregg's 968 seemed like a great fit and I'm flying to Ohio tomorrow evening to close the deal. I pick it up, and meet Gregg in person, Monday morning. Then I have a 2.5 day solo road trip west and then south through the ozarks and back to Texas. The PPI was done late last week with Ed Pimm (EPR Auto) and only a few minor issues were found. I've had Audi, Lexus, VW, Honda (past and present), and Acura, but this is my first Porsche. Here's hoping I enjoy the 968 as much as all of you on this forum. I'm also sure I'll be coming back to you for tips as a new owner. I've got a car cover on order and a replacement for a missing sunroof zipper bag en route from Parts Heaven.
Best add-on cupholder for a 968? That's my next item.
A couple of pics for those who haven't seen it. The 996 wheels and gloss black paint make a nice combination!

UPDATE: I picked up the black 968 today and drove from Columbus, OH to St. Louis, Missouri. That's about 400 miles and 4 states. Tomorrow its south through the Ozarks and eventually to Little Rock, then back to Dallas on Wednesday. Its a nice piece of engineering. It rained a lot of the way today. I'm hoping to take off the sunroof tomorrow, weather permitting.

Congrats bro - your car is a real beauty. Take some scenic pictures of your epic journey and travel safely.
Question - did you bring along any extra spare misc parts ? I am thinking maybe a spare DME relay.
Its hard to believe our cars are really 16 years old and look so timeless.

I love love love love love the 968 with the 18" Carrera wheel. Does your car have the full staggered setup, or is it four front wheels? Do they bolt right on, or do they need to be spaced or something? And the color is simply gorgeous.
As for the cupholder...I always thought it was the one and only design flaw of the car, other than MAYBE having the handbrake on the wrong side of the driver...but honestly, I've surprised myself by not missing it. The car conditions me into the German mindset that we should not be drinking things while driving.

Very slick cupholders! Does the armrest fall down easily? Mine will fall back down if I barely touch it (or if I hit a moderate bump), I would be worried about it knocking over my drinks onto me if I did that mod.

I hate the way the parking brake handle juts in the middle in the newer cars.
Also, who wants a cupholder in a sports car?

Agreed. My coffee table doesn't have a steering wheel, my 968 doesn't have a cup holder.

Those wheels are sure sharp...
Tex, I might still have a polished tailpipe here if you're interested, I think it would look good...
I got my cupholder at Starbucks, they keep them over by the cup insulators
