Its a matter of definition, I suppose. I've always felt that, while its "sporty", the 968 cab isn't really a sports car per se. A very nice car that has great road manners, yes, but not something you'd envision taking to the races.

Out of curiosity, have you or your g/f driven a tip? One of the things that you'll find when living with one for a while is that it is adaptive and learns the drivers style. Once you learn how to not let it default to 2nd gear starts, it comes alive quite nicely.

I've seen this car disappearing in the distance in front of me while I had the cruise control set at 100 in my old 951, I can tell you it performs like any other Porsche-and that it is a sports car, a touring car, and a beauty queen. Like every web board, there will be 100 different opinions about who, what, when, where, and why.

If you are looking for a pristine 968 cab, in a rare (and stunning) color-this is the one to have (even though I did see some dirt on it around 5 years ago). If you are looking for a 400hp Turbo, or something to row the gears in-this isn't for you.

I agree it is going to need to be a car that will demand the correct buyer, and I don't know how many of those buyers have the disposable income to drop on a toy. Scott's lucky enough to be in a position to hold out for the right buyer-and I think he'll get top dollar-but it's not going to be quick.

Of course, the problem would go away if you sold me the Sherman, and kept the cab. All that being said, I've got $18 and a 6 pack of Boulevard Wheat Beer I can trade ya.....

Once I re-read that statement, it dawned on me that a lot of people might not know how much of a smart *** I am. By seeing dirt on the car five years ago-I mean this thing is clean all the time. Truly a very very nice car.

Both stock 968 coupe and cab are GTs to me, but for me if it has a hard top and more than 2 seats it isn't a sports car.
My wife is insane, she drives in heavy traffic area the first 5-10 miles on the way home from work but still insists on a manual transmission and soft top. The last 30+ miles are mice curvy back roads to make it worth while but I can't believe her left calf is not 3x the size of the right by now. Me? I'd drive a tip for that commute, actually no way I would make that commute. LOL

I wasn't really disparaging the Tip, it has it's place in either body style.

SpeedBump, I took no exception to your comments, I was just curious if you had driven one. I respect that lots of folks have no interest in owning a tip equipped car. If I am going to sell the car, I just need to find the right person, nothing new with that concept. lol

The sun is actually out today, so I might get a chance to pull the car out and snap some pictures of it. Its surprising how few pictures I have of it considering I have owned it for 10 years. lol

I have driven other Porsche tips but not a 968 and if I had to deal with traffic I would not hesitate to pick one up, although I might opt for a new car with paddle shifters.

FYI, you can put a 993 tip steering wheel with paddles on a 968 with a tip.

Just for the recond tho, its looks like y'all will be stuck with me for a while longer. Ater pulling the 968 out and driving it this last week, my wife is forbidding me from selling it. She drove it to work this week and then we took it for a nice drive on Friday and then again today. It's really just too darned nice to let go off.

Take it out to the club race with a for sale sign, who knows you may get what you want. Price it high and settle where you want.
