Default Anyone know about this car?

Thinking about checking it out, but it is a 2hr drive for me. If anyone has already checked it out, or know anything about it, i would love to save the time/gas. Car is in Raleigh, NC, at a dealer lot ( not P-car dealer).

Suddenly in the market, and not quite willing to go cross country for one.

TIA
Heybiff

Looked at it online several times because of price and exterior color, interior looks 122k miles but not unexpected. 2 hour drive, heck I flew to Raleigh to look at one and then flew back a week later to drive it home. Drove many hours looking for the other car thank god found one in Pittsburgh as the next one to check out was in Ohio.

Do you mind if I ask why you took a pass?

Oops I wasn't clear. I did not fly to Raleigh for this one, I flew there for the blue one under my screen name to the left. I leaning toward buying a 996 rather than adding a 3rd 968 but I love the 968 in white.

To each their own. Personally, I'm not a fan of body colored wheels. I find them tacky. But then again...a ot of folk don't like anthracite or gun metal wheels...which i love.

Is that "you're entitled to your wrong opinion?"

And THAT is why I love this forum. I'm horribly opinionated, but also divided on how I view Porsches. And thus why I have a modified 951 and a bone stock 968.

PPi done.

Dealer tech says car needs/has:

New clutch
No service history
No sound from DS speaker
Airbag light on <-- this actually scares me
Missing belly pan (how spensive is that?)
cracked DS foglight
minor oil leaks on engine -- poss oil pan gasket
broken glovebox hinge
turn signal does not click off when turning
gearshift slightly sloppy
3rd brake light out
vibration from drive line -- Tech thinks it's torque tube (bearing) <---- tihs scares me more

Thats what was found. Shuould I really be worried about this list? How much should I haggle over for these? The Dealer will FAX me a price list for remedying these, but I'd like to get you guys input on this. Is it a pass or purchase, and if so, what kind of discounts should I be looking for.

P.S. car is in $9K range.

Curing the airbag and replacing the oil pan at dealer prices will cost half the asking price, easily. If you're that interested in the car, I would significantly low-ball the seller with the understanding that you will pay to fix those issues. OR... You can get the seller to fix those issues and then buy it for $9k. I wouldn't pay more than $6k in it's current condition.

The airbag light is probably not a big deal because it's easy to trigger the light when simply disconnecting the battery and only takes 10 minutes to fix. The driveline vibration is likely a bad DMF or shoddy belt job so fixing either of those will be expensive [$1-2k]. Same for fixing the oil leaks. The rest is all minor DIY so it depends on how much you want this particular 968 and how negotiable the seller is on price and repairs to determine if you dive in or pass.

I gotta say, I'm horrible at negotiating.

I have a 951, so I'm pretty familiar with the small stuff. The airbag light bothers me because it can be simple, or not so simple. Regardless, as a`general rule I don't go to the dealer. Even super expensive local P-Car guru is cheaper. The goal was sometihng I wouldn't need to tinker with.

I guess I keep looking.
