Default couple problems

I have a couple of issues with my street 968. The locking system only works from the passenger side. Also, the temperature sensor is very arratic.

I have these parts available from my race 968 I just need to know what parts to replace and where they are. Any help would be great!!!!

So if you try locking the driver door, it won't lock the rest of the car or the alarm? I bet the plastic linkage connecting the lock cylinder to the lock mechanism is broken or disconnected. Sometimes it pops off and you can pop it back on... but sometimes you need a new one. A 944 part from a junkyard will work, or just order a new one for probably $3.

It's part number 477 837 505 A.

Cheers,

The temp sensor is probably a ground. Remove to pod and the electrical strip/board and all connections and clean. Make sure all grounds in the car are clean/tight.

I had the same issue - just needed to tighten the brass nut on the back of the pod

You can lock the drivers side but the pass side does not lock. All works fine from the passenger side.

What is the "pod"

OK, that sounds like the plastic linkage that connects the lock motor to the actual lock mechanism. It's really easy to check, once you have the door panel off. The linkage is easily visible and what you want to look for is the end of the plastic piece that looks like a ball-socket, it's probably broken. I'll try to post a pic.

If the "pod" is the instrument cluster, then the procedure can be found here:

Thanks Clark

Since the temp sensor is in the passenger side mirror, maybe that's the 'pod'.

Cheers,
There is a microswitch on the side of the outside door lever that controls central locking functions. The rod you are refering to only operates the lock on that side mechanically. Check the door connection, its under the dash by the fuse box. Its a pain to get to, of course. If you dont have any luck there then disassembly of the door panel will need to happen to figure what is going on. If you or someone you know has PET the illustration #'s you will need are 804-06 #10 for the switch, and 804-05 for everything that makes the outer lock work.
