Default M030 spindle and hub swap

Hello all,

Has anyone swapped their non-M030 spindles and hubs to M030 ones (and some big blacks) or can give me some insight what is involved?

Are new struts and springs required? Any other changes?

I know there are cheaper, equally effective other ways to go, but any thoughts?

Eric

Eric, the hubs and spindles are bolt ons. You don't need to modify anything except the brake dust shields. I just pull them away from the rotor since they tend to rub because of the different tie rod setup on M030 spindles.
You can reuse everything, struts etc. You might need to change the brake lines.

Raj,

Thanks for the quick response, good to know. By the way, I'm very jealous of your 968 collection.

He had a couple MO30 coupes as well, one in speed yellow.

Yeah, the same SY 968 that keeps beating my Horizon Blue 968 at the PCA Palooza car show! lol Its a beauty and deserves the prize.

What Raj said altho if you are diving that far into it, I'd suggest at least considering upgrading/refreshing the struts, as you will already need to get the car aligned after the spindle swap. Also (and hopefully this goes without saying) please put in fresh wheel bearing races and wheel bearings!

Regards,

+1. One should never assume that someone would change the wheel bearings and races.

Um, Raj... bad news for you. It *just* sold, about a month ago. Brian from Rennsport bought it from Leonard and Mel. He's obviously thrilled with it. Brian's a nice guy, you'd like him and I doubt you'd be sorry to see him have it.

Regards,
