LS - V8 engines in a 968.??
Just a quick post enquiring about a fitting the LS V8 engine into a 968.
I see its been done a few times + that Renegade Hybrids seem to be the folks that do the kits.
Just wondering on thoughs + findings of some of the people that have either done it, or know what there talking about...

Miles968,
I have been driving/tracking my 968LS2 going on 7 years and in that time have learned a lot about what works and how to do it without breaking the bank. I did the initial development for Renegade and can share some of what I have learned with you. There are other options besides Renegade; many of the parts they sell you can buy direct from the actual manufacturer. I would recommend buying a complete LS1/LS2 out of a total so you get all the accessories, harness, etc that you will need. Buying and engine only and sourcing all the other parts necessary will prove to be more costly and time consuming; I have done it both ways and the complete engine is the way to go.
You will also need a 944 torque tube and I would recommend a 951 gearbox in favor of the 6 speed. The 6 speed gearing is too tight for the V8 torque.
PM any questions and I will be happy to share my info.

+1 one the engine and the parts. Stay away from the 98's though. The PCM is limited in the tuning department as I discovered and the 98 harness is not compatible with later PCMs so re-pinning the connector is required.

visited the renegade shop earlier this year, they had a clean white 968 coupe that they had put an LS1 into. looked factory.
they run a quality operation from the look of their shop and the end result products. they also had a 928 on a lift that they were putting an LS7 into, along with a few v8 911s and a twin-turbo 350'd 914.

Tom,
Thanks for the info!
But it's "Moook" who is interested and started the thread, I just tried to steer him in the right direction as I knew I had seen someone on the list who is familar with the LS 1 conversion.
All the Best!
