Detailed my 968
Among the many fun and interesting things during my trip to Hershey this year, Steve Z kindly showed me how to do some detailing work. He gave me a shopping list which included some different polishes, polishing pads, and a Porter Cable polisher - but the stuff isn't cheap. I began with a full wash and clay bar, another car wash, and then went to work with the polisher and I can't believe how nice the paint looks after 6 hours with the polisher except I can see why someone might spend 12 hours polishing!! I only had 3 nights to prep my car for the Paso event so I ran out of time but here are some before and after pictures from the worst parts of my paint and please excuse the specs of dust, my garage is full of it...

Trevor/Steve,
Either one of yall want to share that shopping list? I've got a Porter Cable random orbit and some pads, but everyone has different preferences for polishes, pads, PC speed, clay bars etc.
I'm not sure I've seen such impressive results from a PC. Usually results like that come from a rotary polisher and aggressive pads.
I didn't make it that far on saturday. I washed, washed again (really dirty), did the interior, and then ran out of time and had to move on to other projects. I need to break out the polisher soon and keep my car shiny. Black cars are too hard to keep clean.

I've only used glazes and waxes prior to this, never any abrasive polishes or mechanical polishers. I think the Porter Cable is great for beginners because it takes a bit more time and effort to polish the paint effectively but that prevents sudden mistakes from happening as well. Steve recommended the Menzerna intensive polish and finishing polish but I still used a lot of Zaino products during the process as well such as clay bar, Z1, Z2, Z5, Z6, and the car wash shampoo.

Great job- looks very nice. It seems we all were washing and polishing cars this weekend. I did 3 of the herd. BIG + 1 on zaino products. I use it and on my 930 which is black also the results speak for themselves.

I LOVE that little sparkle above your right fog light! It just perfects the shot.
I know how hard you worked on that car, good job.
