Headlight Conversion
I finished my headlight conversion for now; I am working on a curved molded lens but I needed to finish what I could before track season started.

Wow does that change the looks of your car!! It works best with your color because it blends with the surround on the lights. I don't know about a light color car. Your car looks good.

Thanks guys,
I am working on a mold for a curved lens that will look more factory than the flat one lexan one. The conversion took close to 50lbs off the front end and the Hella lights provide excellent light.

Nice job!!
Any more pictures showing mounting details? What hellas did you use? High beam and low beam?
Are you willing to pose a parts list?
Again... beautiful work.

I can post some pics with the lenses off but it will be next week when I get back from Road Atlanta. I did not want to drill any holes in the car in case I ever wanted to put the stock light back in; probably never will though. The mounting is pretty simple, I cut some thin aluminum brackets that fold over the fender lip inside the headlight opening. I used air conditioning duct tape to secure the brackets to the fender lip, basically lapping the tape over the bracket and fender lip. Where the bracket faces up out of the headlight opening in the fender I attached Velcro, then on the opposing side of the lexan lens I put Velcro. The Velcro has a large contact patch on the top and bottom of the lens and they are firmly secured. Next I cut some oval shaped vinyl and covered the area on the lens where the light came through; then removed the vinyl patches and cleared the lens several times. Lastly I sprayed the backside of the lens with black to prevent any light bleed through on the lens.
Lights are high and low beam from HELLA 90MM headlights, I bought them on from Susquehanna Motorsports and total was around $320.00. The light seem to have better light than my stock ones did with upgraded bulbs. I did this project to reduce weight and get rid of the exposed flip up lights, all in all I am very happy with the result.

Thanks Tom. I'm interested to see the other pictures when you get a chance to post them.
I like the color of your 968 - you don't see too many like it!

911kev - nice work!
Where did you get the fog light air scoops? They're very nice.
Have you thought about a silver porsche crest for this nice shiny black car?
