Shock options for Cabriolets?
Replaced the front and rear shocks on my S2 cab a couple of years ago with OE parts from the dealer.
It's about time to look at doing the same for the 951 and I'd like to hear what options might work well on a cab chassis besides stock.
This car has 968 M030 sways and factory 968 M030 Cup 1 wheels. Thanks!

I'm still stock with the exception of H&R sport springs, and the addition of mo30 sways, and the Dynatech STB and BK underbrace. Stephen has taken it a bit further, he may want to comment. I also have LSD which helps hookups in tight corners. I'm happy with the way the car handles now-comfort/sport balance is pretty close to what I like-if I wanted something much more aggressive I'd go buy a Lotus 7 or something.

I'm running KW V3s on one and the other is stock. Both have M030 sways and that with the 14 year old stock suspension has the '95 handling nicely. The KW V3s are nice as well but not for everyone.

With cabs, too stiff is not a good thing. Something to consider..
I recently had the M474 rebuilt by Koni and am running CS springs onthe front. I have M474 Koni sports in the back. I like the ride qualities. I also have a Dyntech stb and BK under chassis brace.

I believe you need to hack into the front struts to replace them with Konis, right?
I would like to just get inserts and leave the original struts alone. Any inserts that would fit the cab struts other than OE? Thanks again.

I see on the german transaxle forums there seem to be a following also for Bilstein B6's, but appears the fronts which are cartridges needs to be done by a suspension specialist, it is not such an easy hack as with the Koni's. Koni yellows or Bilstein seems to be the "cheaper" recommended upgrades, KW's the more expensive (and I suspect more track oriented) recommendation there.

Madridcab, Bilsteins are known for being on the stiff side. Not ideal for a Cab.
I meant aftermarket Koni's. Perhaps you remember Bob Mueller's Koni shocks write up on the email lists from back in the day? He had to cut up the struts to fit the aftermarket Koni inserts.
OTOH, the M474 option are factory parts which is precisely what I was looking for. Did you just order them from your dealer? Could you dig up the part numbers? What'd you do for rears? Thanks.

Luis, as per PET, the part numbers for M474 are as follows:
Front left: 951 343 031 11
Front right: 951 343 032 11
Rears: 951 333 032 08
Steve found a used set of matching fronts and rears that he was kind enough to sell me. I recently had the fronts rebuilt to the tune of $450. I bought the entire setup for $350 used initially.
You might be better off getting them new if you factor in the cost of a rebuild.
Regards.

Three Wheelin'
I'm running 474's in the front with Koni Sport rears, and M030 bars and H&R springs. I do have the D1 strut brace the BK underbody brace, and it's very stiff, especially with 18" wheels, but I like it and the car isn't a daily driver. I had M030's on there originally and they were way too stiff.

The 944 M474 option front shocks are the 2 part numbers you provided. The Turbo M474 shocks are:
Front Left: 951 343 032 06 (Koni)
Front Right: 951 343 032 06 (Koni)
For the rears, the M 474 option are Konis, with part number 951 333 032 01, whereas the Turbo shows Sachs and part number 951 333 032 06.
What difference do you think there might be between the 944 M474 fronts versus the Turbo M474 fronts?
Likewise, what difference is there between the Sachs and Koni rears?
Thanks!
