That rear hatch is one of the sexiest aftermarket Porsche parts I think I have ever seen! Sorry guys but this is perfect a la Ferrari F40
All this talk about hand made and fiberglass is just too right for our cars! The lighter they are the faster they go, the more functional the parts the longer we will love them.

Hi all

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are sure many will absolutely love this upgrade both from a functional and an aestethical aspect.

There are still a few minor issues to resolve, the leading edge isn't perfectly symmetrical and perfectly shaped yet. And there is one big issue to resolve...the attachment of the wing to the side bits. I don't think that the solution from the factory is the best and most solid one...especially as this wing will create substantial downforce.

We might have to look into some designs from aviation to find the best solution.

Obviously the above will affect the price of the final product but I estimate that the wing, the two side carriers including the brackets and installation items wil be around 550-600 euros.

Cheers

Beni

If you come in around the $800-$1,000 mark I will be impressed considering what I paid for my OEM rs part. I have to agree on some of the points you make regarding the side bits. It's nice to see you are looking at the bigger picture. ;-)

Thanks Mate It was actually looking through an old book of mine and seeing a picture of the F40 which inspired us to look into the vented hatch screen further. Traditional Lexan rear screen create allot of baffle noise and I have heard of Lexan screens also blowing out of the frame when used with vented side windows due to back pressure. I'm sure poor sealing has played a part in this problem but all the same race cars with an aftermarket Lexan hatch screen have to run twin external braces to help prevent this problem which is potentially very dangerous to the drivers behind and also astatically not pleasing on the eye.

By simply venting the hatch screen this will seriously reduce back pressure which was not an issue with the Ferrari F40. The F40's rear vented screen was produced in both glass and “Lexan for racing” and was solely designed to vent heat out of the engine bay. The Ferrari featured a second screen inside the car to separate the driver from the engine compartment (fire wall).

We produce our Lexan product in various thicknesses and colored tints and offer a black border masking service. FIA states that Lexan screen have to be no thinner than 4mm to pass scrutineering which is what we recommend to most customers.

Back to the 968 TRS Ver.2 rear wing …

As Beni has pointed out, the original 4 bolt fixing method deployed by Porsche simply doesn’t look strong enough. We will increase this to 6 using 4mm Riv Nuts and bolts to hold everything in place.

We will also be making the rear center section (wing) even more upwards degree “tilt” adjustable and rather than using aluminum adjuster plates we will be opting for CNC machines dry laminate 4mm carbon fiber (pic below). This will not only look far more attractive but will also not oxidize over time which is a problem with anodized aluminum in colder and wetter climates like our poor weather in Europe.

All of the fixing bolts will be titanium again for better corrosion resistance

Lastly we will try and obtain new OEM 968 hatch frames and side/center trims from Porsche (supply & cost prohibiting) and will then offer a complete kit ready to simply bolt on and off you go for those also interested in the Lexan (vented or solid).

Yes we will do later in the year mate but will first need to finish all of the other development projects we are working on to clear some time/space. The Version 1 center section will not take very long to make though

Regarding the vented rear hatch, can you give us an indication of a ballpark price range? Will it be the frame and everything, or will it be designed to mount into an existing frame?

Hi ideola - I have been in talks with Porsche GB to try and get a good price on new OEM frames. The OEM frames are very very light and are manufactured using a process called extrusion from aluminum.

Unfortunately the prices they have supplied us with are what I would consider as far to expensive. I have already written an extensive and pictorial step by step guide to easily remove (separate) the rear screen from the frame without breaking the glass. The link is here for those who have not already seen and read it: https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...own-teeth.html I tried many different methods until I found the best so it took me considerable time but I recon I could now do it again in 2-3 hours plus 1.5 hours to restore and paint the frame to like new condition!

I will soon do a write up on how to DIY restore your hatch frame so I'll keep you posted. If the above sounds like far to much hard work then I'm sure that there are alot of automotive glass specialists who will come to your home and remove then replace the glass screen.

Regarding price we are still not sure so don't want to give an indication yet. We do not have the facilities to do the CNC machining in-house for cutting and finishing the vent holes and this will be a time consuming job. I am in talks with a company at the moment that can do this part for us so as soon as I have a fixed price again I will update

Any news on the vented rear hatch?

It's getting near racing season here in the Eastern US, and I'd love to install it for this year.

I can't wait for these things to come out and hope it's a decent price. I'm all over this.

will you offer these wings in Carbon Fiber as well as Fiber Glass? I currently have a Carbon Fiber AIR Turbo S rear spoiler, but would be interested in a Turbo RS (ver 2) spoiler.

Default UPDATE

DEUTSCH NINE is proud to announce its newest aerodynamic product - an optimized replica of the super rare 968 Turbo RS type II rear wing making DEUTSCH NINE the only company in the world offering this product. This new aerodynamic upgrade was designed and developed strictly following the below requirement specification:

• Best aerodynamic design thanks to type II wing profile (longer and more curved profile) leading to significantly improved downforce compared to the standard type I Turbo S and Turbo RS wing

• Significantly improved fitment characteristics (also OEM parts turned out to be poor quality regarding fitment characteristics)

• Intelligent Adjuster Plate design (in the prototype version made from wood, the serial production will feature precisely machined plates from prepreg carbon fiber) allowing full adjustability

• Authentic and aesthetically pleasing design making this wing the most desirable upgrade for the rear of any 944, 951 and 968

The below pictures show the TRS type II wing prototype in late development stage. Please note that this is not the final product yet and that the prototype still requires minor adjustments and corrections prior to the serial reproduction:

Adjuster plate design – blueprints and wooden prototypes:

Wing components:

Adjustability demonstration (Please note that in the serial version the bolts used for the adjustment will be Titanium Chain Ring bolts and not the cheap items shown in the pictures):

100% of the adjustment range angle of attack:

Various impressions:

The price for this wing for the 968 will be 850 euros including the following components:

• Type II center piece
• Side carriers
• 4 adjuster plates
• 2 Titanium Chain Ring adjustment bolts
• Complete hardware kit for installation on the 968 rear hatch

We are accepting orders now on a “first come first served” basis, we expect to be in a position to ship the first serial production wings in 5 weeks from now and will request payment 2 weeks prior to delivery.

Please contact us via sales@deutschnine.com to be put on this list.

And on a separate note...I can't wait to fit one of these on both our Turbo RS replica project car as well as my 951 3.0...

Cheers

Beni
