968 Control Arms

You'd better find a REALLY strong circlip. I found it best to reuse the stock ones.

I have a pair of '86 arms that are toast, I could steal the circlip from those - as long as the inner diameter in the balljoint sockets are the same on both 951 and 968 arms - which I hope they are otherwise the rebuilt kit won't work either.
But I do have a ton of circlips that I could use, some might be even bigger than the 951 ones.
The other thing is that I don't think that bottom section is actually subjected to much vertical/downward force. The biggest issue with these arms are the lateral forces at the balljont stem when the balljoint is kinked againt the arm itself....

okay,
my old control arms came off with 197 k miles. got every last bit out of them.
my replacements have 42 k miles, and should get me down the road for a while
but....... i'll be putting big miles on the car soon.
I'd like to keep an extra set on standby....
so, who if anyone has the technical capability to rebuild the so-called
unrebuildable, uber-expensive 968 front control arm??
they're $618.00 per unit at Pelican Parts.
clearly this is not acceptable when we're just seeking to replace the ball joints.
I don't want to use 944 control arms. I want my A-arms to stay 968 oem.
we need the answer to this dire situation, and we need it now.

awesome, thanks!!! that's a fantastic price!!
I just talked to one of the guys about rebuilding my actual 968 A-arms, but he's gonna call me back with confirmation.
if it's not the 968 oem arms, i'll just send them my cores and use whatever they have.

I just sent a set to Mainely Custom by Design. He did a set for my other 968 and did a phenomenal job. Sent him my 2 968 cores and he rebuilt them for me with new ball joints and bushings and sent them back to me. Bob did an absolutely fantastic job and turned them around in about a week for somewhere around $300 for the pair. I highly recommend his work.

Previous owner of my 968 retrofitted the car with 944 arms. The brake air ducts are held on with a piece of aluminum channel that the duct is bolted to, and then that attached to the a arm with 3 zip ties.

Whats the latest on ball joints and control arms? Buddy's 968 is due. I will help swap the arms, but dont want to rebuild them. Who is doing a decent rebuild job. Im not sure if it currently has 968 or 944 arms on it.
