I can attest to 12.2 trap speeds at Sears Points 1/4 mile and believe me it is a blast in a 400HP 968 turbo S. I would have to say it does take some practice to be able to launch these cars but my 6 puck kevlar clutch and spec pressure plate help get the power to the ZF LSD! Im telling you RAJ its way more enjoyable than the vario-cam stuff, you have to try it!!!!!

workaholic, does that mean I need a firesuit if I have a chip? I've never heard of such a thing...I detailed an evo for a client who drags it quite a bit, who has a lot more power than stock, and no suit...

If he has the factory turbo then a suit is not required. Only when you take a car that was an n/a and change it over is when the track requires the driver to have a suit. The tech inspector always asks if you have any nitrous turbo/superchargers when the car is getting teched.

That is not true at all. There were atleast two co-workers with me that were in force fed cars that were not factory, one with his Viper GTS tt putting down 1100rwhp and another with an VW R32 putting down 400fwhp. There were numerous other imports with forced induction and none of them are factory conversions. There was not a single soul with a fire retardent suit on, just Jeans and T-shirt.
You can even check out Englishtown's website and see for yourself.

Shawn, very nice numbers. What was your trap speed? I am curious how different my numbers would be with the changes between our configurations. I will let know know when i plan to do this on my turbo so we can discuss best launch techniques.

Well everytime that I have been there it was rules if you had an aftermarket power adder you needed a fire suit to run. They may have changed the rules from last year to this year, but that has been true whenever I have been there. It could be because you were there on a test and tune night, and not during an event.

I was there on a test and tune night. There was no racing, just racing against the clock. All you need is a helmet.

I thought the D/M flywheel was not great with drag launches and gear banging. By great, I mean able to last very long. Any thoughts?

Ryan, there was no gear banging. The dual mass flywheel is a lot stronger than what some will make you believe. I have seen it last for yrs in turbo cars that do DE.
