Default Rod bearing DIY

Got this from someone on the board and thought I would share it with everyone. It is really an easy job. Took about 40 min for the first cylinder and about 30 min for the rest. If you are replacing the oil pick up or return tubes, you should do this "while you are in there".

Have read this DIY before. There is one difference on a 968. The rod nuts are torqued to 18 ft lbs. and then a 90 degree torque angle. I have not done it yet but that is what the work shop manual states.

You are right: first torqued to 18 Ft. Lb, Then use a torque angle gauge to tighten to 90 degrees.
You can pick up those torque angle gauges online for about 15-20 dollars.

Do you know the torque spec for the oil pick up?

I saw your question a couple of weeks ago and hoped that someone would answer. I checked the all the torque settings in the Technical Spec Manual and could find no mention of it. I tightened it fairly tight so that it would not slip. Hope that does it.

I have looked at all of manuals as well, and can not find it.

I would guess 15 to 20 ft.lbs. Maybe someone could give an exact number?

Max?

Most M8's are 17-22 lbs/ft and M10's are around 33 lbs/ft.
