Default Subwoofer Question

Ok before y'all start flaming me I searched and searched. In our 968 Cab we dont have rear seats and we have the two storage compartments, one has the 6cd changer and the other is empty. Now here is my question has anyone tried to take the door off and have a sub box in there? i saw something similar in a 360 one time and I thought it would look great in the cab.

Some people who are unable to comprehend the function of the vibration dampener have placed the subswoofer in that cubby after removing it, but that's not a good idea.

Not a flame...but if you haven't already looked, 968 forums (http://www.968forums.com/) has a forum for stereo discussions - it's a subforum titled Stereos, NAVS, & Gadgets under the Improving Your 968 forum. I don't know if you'll find a specific answer to your question, but there are some discussions of subwoofers for cabs. Good luck.

Hopefully that content is more accurate that what is on the home page of that site-the original sale prices were never 'dropped dramatically' by Porsche during the lifetime of the car. The list price pretty much stayed the same, and it never, ever, started at 55K. Did someone just make this stuff up??

Over the 4 years of production, only a little over 12,000 cars were sold worldwide, with less than 5,000 shipped to the North American continent. Original sales price started at about $55k and dropped dramatically by the end of production, as lower priced Japanese competition, and the unwillingness of the public to embrace a front engine 4 cylinder Porsche spelled doom for the 968.

Actually for the 968 Cab it did start out at around that price point $53-$56k depending on transmission. So maybe that paragraph needs to differentiate between cab and coupe. The price also did drop later in the production years, not dramatic, $4-5k for the coupe depending on transmission. Go back and look thru some of the magazine articles on the 968 like Motortrend or Autoweek, they are posted out on the net.

I'm glad you agree it's written poorly-let me edit how it should be

'Original list prices began at just under $40,000 for the coupe and reached the upper $50,000 range for loaded tiptronic cabriolets. As the cars faced challenges in the marketplace dealers often discounted heavily, especially towards the end of the lifecycle of the cars.'

Maybe this is in time to make the reformatted site!

It actually wasn't the dealer that discounted them, it was Porsche, the MSRP went down slightly towards the end. The cheapest coupes sticker is $44,500 at the beginning, by 94 it was at $39,850. There probably aren't many vehicles that go down in sticker price over the model years, kind of interesting stuff.
