Wow! Whatever the color is on that 993 is simply fantastic! It really makes the car pop out.

Regarding the color of the blue 993 GT2 and the blue 968 ... I was just wandering if this was a special color which was in conjunction with the Audi RS2 which was developed by Porsche:

The Audi RS2 is very high on both mine and Beni's shopping list as a daily runner. They made this car in all the Porsche official RS colors (Blue, Yellow, Red, Silver & Black).

The colors look EXTREMELY the same - Anybody shed some light on this for me as this is truly our favorite color

Looks like Audi also borrowed the Cup1 wheels from Porsche on their RS2 unless they were put later.

It may come down to a lighting/angle thing as the third pic looks much more like the maritime blue 986 cab that Jeff posted earlier.

Hi Raj

Yes they used the Porsche oem Cup1 's but I'm sure I'm right in saying they were the limited magnesium versions from the 964 RS (FRONT's). If you look closely you will also notice the Porshe tear drops mirrows with oem 968 bases. Also Turbo big red's.

There are a few people in Europe who have dropped the Audi RS2 engine into both 951's and 968's - I'll get Beni to dig out some pictures so I can post.

P.S. He pics the damage car up tomorrow so we will post more pics on Friday.

Cheers,
Mark

spectre996 - Yes I think you could be right and the original pictures I posted of the 993 factory GT2 were actually taken after the car had gone through a professional Swissvax Detailing session using the most expensive and exclusive wax in the world which is called Swissvax Divine hence the glass like deep shine

I'll try get the colour codes from the Audi RS2 and it will be interesting to compare like for like

I knew all about the RS2 (and of course they never officially came here) but I've never heard that anyone swapped a motor into a 968.

Well, at least the Mercedes/Porsche 500E did come here . . . wouldn't mind one of them either.

Hi guy’s … a quick update on our 968 project car

Beni managed to find some time today to start to tear down the car so we can assess the damage which on the face of it doesn’t look to bad and most will be able to be straightened with a panel hammer and dolly but there are a few other areas which will require a more surgical pulling, welding and panelling approach

Anyway the time is against us as we have just confirmed exhibitor sponsoring the ‘Porsche Show Time 2008’ event in ‘Interlaken, Switzerland’ and will want the car fully finished for the event which starts on the 16th August! - http://www.porsche-showtime.ch/

After having first removed the damaged front wing mainly superficial damage is evident:

Above ... LOL - I like Beni's use of footwear Not too sure what Health and Safety would make of this leisurely approach

Above ... This picture shows the front chassis leg which is slightly bent We will try and straighten the offending eye sour with a jig but failing that we will cut and renew

Above ... Notice the top strut mount The previous owner fitted these on the wrong way round - His mechanical skills obviously represent his 'shoe string' budget after he fitted lowering springs!

Above ... Again notice the gap

Above ... The damage to the door has thankfully not damaged the A-Pillar

Above ... Just a shame the same can't be said about the lower sill!

Above ... We will first try pulling the sill straight but we may need to renew depending upon the results from pulling

Above ... The under side of the porker looks nice and clean

Above ... Why oh Why do mechanics think that it is ok to just shove a trolley jack under a car and not use the correct jacking point Again this will have to be pulled straight

Appart from the above everything else looks good so this should be a very quick repair.

The only thing that is baffeling me is the lack of offset on the front wheels. The car drives perfect and my initial thought was that a previous owner had fitted early offset 944 front wishbones but this is not the case. The wheels are also factory cup1's so is there anything else this could be i.e. the wrong hubs?

Best regards,
MARK and I'll keep the pictures coming

M030 cars have a 65mm offset in the front. I just don't get Porsche. They have a 55mm offset on 7 inch wide 16 inch wheels, they increase the width to 7.5 inch and they add another 10mm to the offset, go figure.
There is way too much room to have kept a 55mm offset even with a 7.5 wide inch rim.

Interlaken was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen in my life. This was 8 yrs back. I can't wait for the kids to grow up so we can plan another trip to Switzerland. What a beautiful place.
