Default Special Tool for Cam Install

Well, the local parts haus (Zim's) did not have the Special Tool 9248 (Cam Saddles). They said that is had to be special ordered and cost about $160.00 (eek gads!).

So does anyone have any ideas of how I can fashion one that will do the job of pressing the cams down into the lifters / spings?

Thanks in advance!!!

You can do it without the tool. Just be very careful and evenly tighten all cam bearings. As long as they compress evenly, you will be fine.

I understand that! I was stranded a couple of weeks ago when American Airlines took all their MD-80's out of service for the FAA mandated safety checks. I called and told them I had to be home for my son's birthday. They were not happy, but they did get me home...at 1 AM. But at least I was home for my son's Birthday!
