Default Why coolant to the throttle body?

What is the purpose of the coolant line to the throttle body in a 968 engine? Can this circuit be eliminated without ill effects?

The plumbing through the throttle body is to prevent the linkage from icing up. It also warms the incoming air column, which is undesirable in summer months and/or for racing.

I eliminated this in my swap since I didn't have the hoses and car has been running flawlessly.... Don't drive it in the winter though so if you do YMMV

Good news, more stuff I can eliminate! Ice and cold weather are not a problem down here in hot swampy Florida.

Didn't they use to use air pulled off of the headers to do the same thing on earlier cars? (not sure about european cars)

for those doing a turbo conversion this is a handy water cooling extension for the turbo centre section...
