What brand do you all have?
I'm thinking of getting one, and was told to stay clear from the Sears brand.
What are the choices for lightweight aluminum floor jacks?
Thanks,
Jason

I have one of the craftsman jacks, and it's worked flawlessly for several years-I don't know if they changed them since I got mine, but I've had great luck with it. I know that Rouch Racing makes a good one too.

Jason,
I have two of these

They have lifted my 968 several times. They are pretty light because of the small size and I feel safe working under the jacks and stands. I keep both jacks and all four stands under the car when working under there.
If you have lowered your 968 you will need a lower jack or to drive onto a board.
I have a third matching jack that came in a plastic case. I take it to change tires at autocrosses. If I were trailering and space was not an issue I might buy one of the large aluminum jacks. But these jacks are both small and light.

I have seen the one Steve has and its from Sears. Its ten times better than the cheap aluminum one I picked up from Harbor Freight. If anything, I would steer clear from the Harbor Freight one. It gave up on me once. I only use to to start the initialy jacking process since its low. After that, I switch to a Roush Racing heavy duty jack that I bought from Sam's club. It was pretty cheap at $65 or so.

+1 on the Craftsman jack. I've been beating the crap out of mine for 5 seasons now, and its still going strong.

Sears also sells a small (toy) craftsman aluminum jack that is great for jacking up your computer's key board or desk stapler. This is very therapeutic for those times that you're sitting at your desk in the office wishing you were at the track.

I've been using 2 no-name low profile jacks I purchased at Costco 4 years ago. They've worked flawlessly lifting an assortment of vehicles. I think they cost $100.00 each. They're aluminum and fit perfectly under my 968.
Good luck!

The one important thing to make sure the jack has is a low profile. It is less likely to screw up the bottom of the side moldings with one. I bought a Mack jack from Walmart 5 years ago, it just quit last week. Sounds like i got my 60 bucks out of it.
