Default Engine Swap ?'s

I'm looking at buying a 968 cabrio without the engine and putting one in myself. I am capable of welding, and fabricating but I'd be hesitant to modify the body/chassis to accommodate a larger engine. So what are my choices in terms of cost, difficulty an power? I'd like a decent amount of performance and have heard small block V8's are an option. If available, I may just buy a 968 block then build it to handle 10+ psi of boost.

Thanks
-Jon

Jon, post on 944 turbo boards. There are a few people there that have done both.

Don't Forget Smog Legal for most parts of the country. Engine Swaps must be same of newer year than car with all emission equipment, to pass most referees for DMV's.
968's are great 240hp engines. If you need more add a Speed Force Racing supercharger kit on a good condition or rebuilt motor for 350hp+. Say 4500 for long block and 6000 for super kit.

LS American block swaps will cost you similar and yield a bit more power, but legal..??
