Default safety devices rollcage question

Has anyone here ever installed a Safety Devices full rollcage in a 968? If so, were you able to do it without removing the rear quarter windows? In a 944 they can be pressed out, but in a 968 they are bonded in and the adhesive would need to be cut and replaced.
Thanks,
Mike

Safety Devices makes two roll cages for the 944/968. I've had both. One is a bolt-in cage that is very good and the rear quarter windows are not a problem. I have "crash-tested" - (no, not on purpose) - this cage and it is very sturdy.

The other is the welded version which I currently have in my 968 racer. IMHO, in order to properly complete the welds for the rear supports to the hoop, you do need to remove the rear quarter windows.

Excellent! I believe my cage is the bolt in (although 4 of the 6 plates into which the cage bolts require welding). Thanks for the info!

We welded all 6 of the plates.

Did you have to remove the little parcel trays in the doors in order for the bolt-in cage to fit?

If so, is there a door panel available that would allow the cage to fit without having to have part of it removed?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
I don't have a Safety Devices cage, but did replace the 968 door panels in my car with older 944 panels that are more flush to my door bars. If you take the armrests off the older panels they are complete whereas the 968 looks unfinished. Will sourced the panels for me from a junk yard and they were good qualtiy and a good deal.

Best of luck,
Jim

Clem,

Reserved a garage space at VIR for 3/30 - 4/1. Wait listed for a room at the Lodge. Probably end up staying in Danville.

Are you still planning on racing with the mid-Atlantic region '44 Cup at the end of March?

Keep in touch.
