it always takes more fuel to make more power - however, more power means achieving a speed faster, thereby allowing you to lift off the throttle sooner, and thus potentially saving fuel

however, the reality is that when you have more power, you tend to use it more often, and fuel economy resultantly goes down

I guess I didn't express my question correctly. How much does this chip effect gas milage? Obviously it's going to use more fuel, but how much more? does it effect city milage more? Hwy milage more? I don't drive very far, but it is my daily driver and needs to remain fairly efficient (esp. w/ premium fuel prices).

If anyone has personal experience w/ gas milage increase/decrease using this chip (or any chip really), please chime in.

I think the decrease if any would be minimal, no more than a mile or two on a gallon. It does add a bit of zip to the car which is much needed in stock form. Its not like you will be losing 10mpg.

While I don't really recommend the RacerX chip (I wouldn't do it again, I'd get the Promax) it does perform well and I get 26.5mpg in my 968...and that's driving at max allowable highway speeds and having fun on accelerations.
